Generating Recommendations to Improve Value Drivers

What recommendations are, how they can help boost your value drivers.

Updated over 7 months ago

What Are Recommendations?

Recommendations in DIVACS are helpful suggestions that pop up on your customer or vendor detail pages. They're like personalized action items, each with a name, a description of what to do, some context about your situation, and an explanation of why it could make a difference. You can find them in a dedicated card on the detail page, just navigate to a specific customer or vendor from the main menu.

These aren't random ideas; they're tailored to your setup, making it easier to spot opportunities for improvement. If you don't have any yet, you'll see a message prompting you to get started.

How Recommendations Help Improve Value Drivers

Value drivers are those key metrics you track in DIVACS, like cost savings or efficiency. Recommendations act as your guide to optimizing them—suggesting quick wins and steps to push your scores higher. For instance, if a value driver shows room for growth, a recommendation might offer ways to reduce overhead or streamline processes, complete with reasons why it'll work.

By following these suggestions, you can directly impact your metrics. There's even a completion percentage that shows your progress, helping you see real results over time. It's a straightforward way to turn insights into better performance without guessing what to do next.

Marking and Tracking Recommendations

Once you have recommendations, DIVACS makes it easy to organize and track them with tabs: Suggested (for new ideas), In Progress (for ones you're actively working on), and Completed (for those you've finished).

Here's how to mark and manage them:

  • Browse the list in any tab.

  • Expand one by clicking the arrow to see full details.

  • To save a favorite for later, mark it as "default"—this keeps it from being replaced when you generate new ones.

  • If you're starting on a suggestion, move it to "In Progress" with a quick button click.

  • Once you've implemented it and seen the improvement, mark it as "Completed" to track your win.

This system lets you prioritize, monitor your efforts, and celebrate progress—all in one spot.

How to Generate New Recommendations

Generating recommendations is simple and quick:

  1. Make sure you have at least one value driver set up (if not, add one first—it's the key to getting relevant suggestions).

  2. Go to the Recommendations card on a customer or vendor detail page.

  3. Click the regenerate icon (it looks like a refresh arrow) or the "Generate Recommendations" button.

  4. Wait for the loading to finish—DIVACS will create fresh suggestions based on your value drivers.

They'll appear in the Suggested tab. Remember, unmarked items might get replaced during the next generation, so mark defaults for keepers. If something goes wrong, you can retry easily.

Tips for Using Recommendations Effectively

To really make this feature shine:

  • Generate new ones regularly, like after updating your value drivers, to keep ideas fresh.

  • Always mark important suggestions as default to build a personalized list over time.

  • Use the tabs to stay organized, focus on In Progress for your current tasks and Completed for motivation.

  • Combine this with your dashboards for a full view, act on a recommendation, then check how it affects your metrics.
