This tutorial guides you through the process of setting up and managing your virtual class with Dokeos Live, the integrated video conferencing tool in Dokeos LMS. This system allows you to create and manage online sessions while providing a seamless learning experience for your learners.

Prerequisites

  • Dokeos Live subscription: Ensure that your subscription includes the Dokeos Live option. If you're unsure, contact your project manager for confirmation.

  • Required permissions: You must have the necessary rights to manage a virtual class and use Dokeos Live, particularly as a Trainer or Administrator.

1. Introduction to Dokeos Live

Dokeos Live is a video conferencing tool fully integrated into your Dokeos LMS platform, enabling learners to attend live sessions without leaving the platform interface.

Key features

  • Live sessions: Organize real-time training sessions.

  • Webcam, Audio, Chat: Communicate live via video, audio, and instant messaging.

  • Groups and subgroups: Split learners into groups for collaborative activities.

  • Screen sharing: Share your screen for demonstrations or presentations.

  • Connection tracking: Record participant connection times for tracking in Dokeos LMS.

2. Managing Dokeos Live in a Virtual Class

After creating your virtual class in Dokeos, you can activate Dokeos Live to host your video conference session. Follow these steps to invite users to join your virtual class.

Step 1: Create a virtual class

If you haven’t created a virtual class yet, follow the dedicated tutorial on creating a virtual class. Once your virtual class is set up, you’re ready to activate Dokeos Live for the video conference session.

Step 2: Activate Dokeos Live

  1. Access your virtual class: Open the virtual class in Dokeos LMS.

  2. Go to class settings: Navigate to the settings or configuration section of the class.

  3. Find the Dokeos Live option: Locate the "Dokeos Live" option in the class settings.

  4. Enable Dokeos Live: Check the "Dokeos Live" box to generate a unique link for the video conference.

5. Video conference link: Once activated, a link will be automatically generated for learners to join at the start of the session.

6. Customizing access: By default, participants can join the session without validation. However, you can require approval before they enter. To do this:

  • Enable "Allow learners to enter without validation" if you want them to join the session immediately.

  • Disable this option if you want to manually approve participants before they can enter the virtual class.

Conclusion

Configuring Dokeos Live in a virtual class allows for a simple and efficient management of video conference sessions. By enabling this tool, you can provide a comprehensive online learning experience with built-in communication, collaboration, and performance tracking features within Dokeos LMS.
