The major difference between filters and custom fields is the fact that custom fields are SPECIFIC TO EACH user (eg: registration number).

In addition, these are entered manually for each user, they do not appear in drop-down lists as for filters.

The custom fields have been created to be put, among other things, in a certificate (for example to show the registration number of my user).

Filters are a way of sorting users in statistics (eg: department, country, etc.).

Filters can be common to various users.

Unlike custom fields, we do not enter them manually. The administrator creates the filters in the administration part and then, when registering each user, the filters are selected from drop-down lists.
