Building an interactive and structured learning module in Dokeos LMS ensures a smooth and effective learning experience. Here’s a detailed guide on how to create a learning module using various platform features like adding content, assessments, external documents, videos, and more.
1. Access the modules section:
Start by logging into Dokeos LMS and following these steps:
Click on the main menu.
Select "My Modules".
Click on the "+" button to create a new module.
2. Available module types:
Dokeos offers four types of modules:
Learning Modules: Deliver educational content.
Assessment Modules: Test learners' knowledge.
Survey Modules: Collect feedback from learners.
SCORM Modules: Import SCORM-compliant content from third-party tools.
3. Learning module details:
After selecting "Learning Module", configure these key elements:
Module Title: Name your module.
Description: Explain the module’s content and objectives.
Keywords: Add relevant keywords for easy search.
Estimated Time: Set an estimated duration using the time bar.
Instructors: You are the default instructor, but you can add or remove other trainers.
4. Add content:
You can include various types of content in your module: pages, videos, documents, quizzes, etc.
a) Create a Card
Click "Card" to open the editor.
Add a title and description (mandatory).
Format text with different fonts, colors, alignment, bold, italics, etc.
b) Insert documents
Click "Document" to upload a file.
Supported formats: PowerPoint, PDF, Word, and Excel (animated PPTs are converted to PDF).
Documents are automatically converted to PDF for learners.
c) Add external content
Click "External Content" to embed resources from platforms like YouTube, Genially, Google Maps, Prezi, etc.
Add an URL or embed code to integrate the content.
d) Embed videos
Click "Video" to insert a video.
Supported format: MP4 (max 800 MB).
Once uploaded, the video can be viewed directly within the module.
5. Create assessments:
Dokeos allows you to add various question formats for learner assessment.
a) True/False Questions
Select "True/False" and enter the question statement.
Add images, audio, or video if needed.
Mark the answer as true or false and provide an explanation.
b) Multiple-Choice questions:
Click "Multiple-Choice Question".
Enter the question statement and possible answers.
Select the correct answer(s) and provide explanations if needed.
6. Use the authoring tool:
Dokeos offers an Authoring Tool for creating interactive content.
Click "Authoring Tool" to access a drag-and-drop interface.
Add and customize text, images, videos, and interactive elements.
7. Convert PowerPoint to pages:
If you have PowerPoint presentations, Dokeos can convert them into pages:
Click "Presentation" and upload your PowerPoint file.
Each slide will be converted into a separate page.
8. Reorder module steps:
Use drag-and-drop icons to rearrange the steps.
Ensure the order fits the learning path.
9. Save and publish:
Auto-Save: Changes are saved automatically.
Preview: Check the final appearance before publishing.
Publish: Make the module available to learners.
Note: Once a module is published:
Steps cannot be reordered or deleted.
