Once you have reviewed and saved your production numbers you can plan your benches, aka assign what each bench will be making during the productions.
Pre-filling benches
Pre-filling benches takes the hard work out of bench planning.
Navigate to Production > Production Planner and click the 'Plan' or 'Edit' button for the day you'd like to plan your benches for. Within this page click ‘Plan Benches’ and you’ll be taken to the Bench Planner.
From the dropdown in the top right select which production you would like to plan.
Click ‘Prefill Benches’ - you’ll be prompted to set the number of benches. This will be automatically filled with what has been set for your site, but you can change this if needed. Click ‘Ok’.
The products you have allocated to the selected production are now automatically allocated across your benches.
Assigning a user to a bench
Before you navigate away from the Bench Planner page you will need to assign a user to each bench.
To do this click the dropdown by 'Assignee' - you will be able to choose who to assign to from all users with access to this site.
You can also manually enter a name and click 'Set' for instances where someone will be working on the bench that does not have an Edify account.
You can edit who is assigned to the bench at any time.
Editing the products assigned to a bench
If you’d like to make an adjustment to the pre-filled benches click ‘Edit’ on the relevant bench.
In the pop up screen you will be able to remove products by clicking the - symbol. This will move the product to the 'unassigned products' table.
You can also add unassigned products into a bench - either assign the entire quantity of a product by clicking the + symbol or enter the specific number you’d like to assign to the bench then click the + symbol.
Click ‘Save’.
Adding or deleting benches
If you need to add further benches just click the 'Add Bench' button within the red box. This will create a new bench with no products allocated to it.
You can also delete benches - just click the bin item on the bench you’d like to delete and this will be removed.
The products that were assigned to that bench will be automatically reallocated across the remaining benches.
Understanding bench timings
At the bottom of each bench you will see a 'Start' and 'End' time. These are auto-populated based on the schedules set within the production site settings.
To the right hand side of the bench is a 'Time' column. This column shows how long it will take to produce the assigned quantity of that product, based on the preparation time set at a recipe level. This is shown in HH:MM:SS format.
The total time to produce all assigned products is shown in bold at the bottom.
Edify then adds on fixed estimate time for Duties and Cleaning to calculate the total amount of time required to complete the benches production.
The ‘Remaining Time’ field shows you how much leftover time there is for that bench within the production times.
If the amount of time required to produce the assigned products exceeds the production times you will see a negative number highlighted in red.
Bench Planning FAQs
Can I adjust the pre-filled production times?
Yes you can adjust the pre-filled production times for each bench. To adjust them simply click into the relevant box and select the new start or end time, then click ‘Ok’.
What happens if I delete a bench?
If you delete a bench the products that had been assigned to that bench will be automatically reallocated across the remaining benches.
Do I have to pre-fill benches?
No, you don't have to pre-fill benches, benches can be added and products assigned manually. However it saves time to utilise the pre-fill feature.
