Summary
A site's production settings control which production runs it operates, when they happen, how forecasts are calculated, and how benches and hot-food stations are set up. Configure them once per site and they auto-populate whenever you plan production for that site.
To open them, go to Settings > Sites, open the site you want, and go to its Production settings. The page has three tabs: Production, Benches, and Hot production.
Changes are made across the page and applied together - select Save changes at the bottom when you're done, or Discard to cancel.
Production tab
Enabled productions
These are the regular production runs available at the site. Tick each production the site runs (Production 1–4). Disabling a production hides it from planning and review.
Variable production
Variable production covers intraday top-up quantities calculated from live sales. It's planned and saved separately from the regular productions. Tick Enable variable production to switch it on. Once enabled, set its own bench schedule and sales-forecast time in the Variable Production section further down the page.
Full-selection times
A full-selection time is a production where the full product range should be available - typically a peak period where you want at least one of everything on sale. Tick the productions this applies to. Edify slightly increases the forecast for those productions to avoid selling out.
💡 If a recipe has a minimum batch size or batch multiple, more than one unit may be added to respect those settings. Full-selection times protect minimum availability but won't prevent a stockout during unusually high demand.
Production schedules
Set the time windows for each production, per day. Select a day along the top, then set the following for each production:
Bench schedule - the time period when the production is run.
Sales forecast time - the sales period used to predict how much should be made in that production.
To reuse a day's setup, select Copy day and choose the day to copy from.
Forecast by category
By default a production forecasts from a single sales window. To forecast certain recipe categories from a different window, select Forecast by category on that production, select + Add category, choose the category and set its window, then select Apply. Categories without an override use the production's default forecast window.
Other settings
Include bench-assigned productions in carry-over adjustments controls how carry-overs are handled. When it's off, only planned productions without bench assignments are adjusted to account for carry-overs.
Benches tab
Benches
Set the default number of benches available for production at the site using the stepper. Setting this here saves adding benches manually each time and lets you use the pre-fill benches function during planning.
Bench users
Bench users are people who can be assigned to benches for production runs without needing an Edify account. (Anyone with an Edify account can always be assigned.)
Select Add user, enter their Full Name, and add an optional Label to tell apart users with the same name, then select Add.
Bench Duties
Bench duties are non-production tasks - emptying bins, washing pots, cleaning down - that you still want to account time for when planning benches. Set a duty up once and it's added automatically during bench planning, with its time factored into the bench's schedule and assigned to a bench for you.
Click Add Duty
Enter a Name - a short description of the task, such as "Empty bins".
Set the Duration - the expected time needed to complete the task, in minutes.
Choose a Bench assignment (see below).
Select Add, then Save changes at the bottom of the page.
The Bench assignment dropdown controls which benches pick up the task:
Option | What it does |
One bench assigned at random | The duty is randomly assigned to a bench when bench planning |
Specific benches | You choose exactly which benches handle the duty. |
All benches, including new ones | Every bench gets the duty, including any benches added later. |
Hot Production Settings
The Hot production tab configures the site's hot-food stations and how they run. It has four sections: Production stations, Full-selection times, Default planner window, and Product Control Review.
Production stations
A station groups the hot-food recipes made together on a timed batch cycle. Each station is listed with a summary of its setup - for example "45 min slots · 1 recipe" or "30 min slots · 2 recipes · min 2 · max 4".
Select Add station to create one (or the bin icon to remove one), then set:
Field | Explainer |
Name | A short name for the station, for example Hot Counter. |
Batch cycle | How often a new batch starts - the slot length (for example 30 min). |
Recipes | The hot-food recipes made at this station. Search and tick them, or Select all. |
Min / Max | The smallest and largest quantity a batch can be. 0 means none. |
Multiple | Forces batch quantities to a multiple of this number. 0 means none. |
Select Add to save the station.
⚠️ Changes to stations apply to future batches from tomorrow onwards, not the current day.
Full-selection times
A full-selection time tops the forecast up with a fixed extra quantity of chosen recipes at a set time - for example, to fill the display at opening. Select Add time, then set the Time, choose the Recipes it applies to, and set the Quantity. Add as many as you need, and use the bin icon to remove one.
Default planner window
This sets the default time range the hot-production planner opens on (for example 07:45 – 21:55). Planners can still widen or narrow the window per day.
Product Control Review
Turn this on to record made quantities through a controlled station review instead of on the stepper (bench). It's recommended where traceability is required. This is the PCR setting the Hot Bench and Hot production review refer to - see Hot Production Planning.
