Daily Production Planning

How to plan your daily productions

Summary

Fixed productions are the scheduled production runs (P1, P2 and so on) that a site makes at set times of day. Planning one means setting how many of each recipe to make in each run for a chosen day, then saving the plan so it's ready for the team.

You do this on the Production page. Choose the day, set the quantities - by hand, or starting from the forecast 0 and select Save plan.

⚠️ Production planning is set per site. Check the site shown in the top left before you start, and use Switch site if you need to change it.

Opening the planner

The Production page shows a week of days across the top, with arrows to move between weeks and a Pick date button to jump to a specific date. Select the day you want to plan - the selected day is highlighted, and the line beneath shows the day, site and range you're planning, along with a status pill (Unplanned until a plan is saved).

Each recipe is listed with its enabled productions as columns (P1, P2, …), a Carry-over column, and a Daily Total showing the quantity and its sale value. Recipes are grouped by category, with a count next to each group.

Setting quantities

Set how many of each recipe to make in each production:

  1. Find the recipe. Use Filter by category or product to search, or All productions to show a single production's column.

  2. In the production's cell, type a number or use the and + buttons to step the quantity up or down.

  3. To clear a recipe's quantity, select the × at the end of its row.

Category subtotals, the Daily Total per recipe, and the Total qty and Total sales rows at the bottom all update as you go. The bar at the bottom shows Unsaved changes until you save.

💡 You can open a recipe's production settings without leaving the planner - select the > next to a recipe to adjust things like batch sizes or production visibility, then Save. See Recipe production settings.

Using the forecast

Edify can recommend quantities from the site's historic sales for the same weekday. Select View forecast to open the Sales forecast panel.

At the top, three summaries describe the forecast: Average shop sales, Average production qty, and Weeks included (how many of the last five matching weekdays are in the average). Below them, the five most recent matching weekdays appear as tickable chips, each showing that day's production quantity and shop sales. Untick a week to leave it out of the average - useful for excluding an atypical day such as a bank holiday.

Switch between By recipe and By time of day to see the breakdown either per recipe or across the day's productions. The table lists each recipe's sales on each included week, an Avg column, and a Forecast column with the recommended quantity to make.

To use the recommendation, select Apply forecast at the bottom of the panel. This replaces every planned quantity with its forecast, so review the plan and save to confirm.

To check a single recipe's forecast without opening the full panel, select the i (information) icon on its row. This shows that recipe's forecast on its own — handy for sense-checking the recommendation for one recipe as you set quantities by hand.

💡 The forecast is drawn per weekday - planning a Tuesday uses historic Tuesday sales. Production rounding and batch-size restrictions can make a forecast quantity differ from the exact average. A site that isn't connected to a POS has no forecast data, so the panel shows nothing to apply.

The Options menu

Select Options for tools that change how the planner behaves:

Option

Explainer

Show recipe categories

Toggles the category grouping on or off. When off, recipes are shown as a single list.

Show only overrides

Filters the list to recipes whose quantity you've changed away from the forecast.

Reset to forecast

Replaces the current quantities with the forecast recommendation. Available only when forecast data exists.

End production

Closes the production for the day.

Carry-overs

The Carry-over column shows quantities brought forward from a previous production or day, so you only make what you still need. Carry-over is set up per recipe (via Allow carry-over in the recipe's production settings) and, at site level, by whether bench-assigned productions are included in carry-over adjustments. See Recipe production settings and Production Settings for Sites.

Saving and what comes next

When the quantities are right, select Save plan. The status pill changes from Unplanned to Saved.

The bottom bar also gives you the next steps from the same page:

  • Benches - move on to bench planning for the day's productions.

  • Stepper - work through the plan recipe by recipe in a focused, one-at-a-time view.

  • Set VP - plan a variable production: an intraday top-up based on live sales. Before one is planned, the grid shows a Forecast VP column with the expected top-up quantity. Once you've planned and saved a variable production, that becomes a VP column showing the planned quantities, which also count towards each recipe's Daily Total. See Variable Production.

  • PCR - complete a product control review for the production

Editing after bench planning

Once benches have been planned, quantities are locked so the bench schedule stays consistent. To change a saved, bench-planned production, reopen the day and use the amend option before saving again.

Troubleshooting

A recipe shows a warning triangle in its Daily Total. This flags a recipe that can't be costed - most often because it has no sale price set. Open the recipe and check its price so the total can be calculated. See Recipe production settings.

A production column is greyed out for a recipe. The recipe isn't visible in that production. Check the recipe's Production visibility and confirm it's ticked for that production. See Recipe production settings.

A recipe isn't in the list at all. Confirm it's added to the site's range and tier (or CPU Product List) and has Count in stock take enabled. See Production Ranges & Tiers.
