Summary
Hot production is for items served warm from a hot counter - soups, hot mains and the like - that you make fresh in small batches through the day rather than in one or two fixed runs.
Each station makes to a rolling schedule of short time slots (for example 15-minute batches), topping the counter up so there's always something ready to serve without over-producing.
There are two parts to it. First you plan how much each recipe should make across the day, by station and time slot, on the Hot production tab of the Production page.
Then, on the day, the team runs the bench from the live Stepper view, working batch by batch as each slot comes due.
⚠️ Hot production only appears once it's set up for the site - stations have to be configured and recipes assigned to them. See Production Settings for Sites.
Opening the hot production planner
On the Production page, switch from Daily production to the Hot production tab at the top. As with daily production, check the site shown top-left and use Switch site if you need to change it, then choose the day from the day cards (or Pick date).
Three controls sit above the list:
Station - the hot station you're planning (for example Bakery, Oven). Each station is planned separately.
Time window - the range of the day the station runs (for example 08:00 – 12:00).
View options - By recipe or By time slot, plus a Hide empty slots toggle.
The bottom bar shows a save indicator (All changes saved / unsaved), along with Stepper, PCR and Save plan.
Setting quantities
In the By recipe view, each recipe on the station is listed with:
Column | Explainer |
Recipe | The recipe name. Expand it with the chevron to see its per-slot breakdown. |
Slots | How many time slots the recipe is spread across in the window. |
Forecast | The recommended quantity for the day, drawn from historic sales. |
Planned quantity | The editable figure - the amount you're planning to make. Type a number or step it; a quantity you've changed away from the forecast is highlighted in pink. |
The Planned today total at the top right sums the station's planned quantity across all recipes. Switch to the By time slot view to see the same plan grouped by time slot instead of by recipe, and use Hide empty slots to collapse slots with nothing scheduled.
When the plan looks right, select Save plan.
Using the forecast
Select Edit forecast to open the Sales forecast panel, which sets the forecasted demand for the station by time slot. Edify analyses sales from previous weeks to predict production quantities, showing an Average sales and Average quantity summary at the top.
Beneath them, the five most recent matching weekdays appear as dated rows, each with a toggle. Turn a week off to leave it out of the average - useful for excluding an atypical day. Select Apply forecast to plan to populate the planned quantities from the forecast, or Cancel to close without changing anything.
💡 The forecast needs POS sales history to work. On a site or station with no sales data yet, each week shows No data and the forecast is empty.
Adjusting the station's times
Select Edit default times to change the station's default production window and slot timings - the schedule the planner and bench work to.
Running the bench (Hot Bench)
On the day, select Stepper to open the live Hot Bench view for the station. This is the screen the team works from, refreshing as the day progresses.
Along the top are the current time, a POS synced indicator, the station dropdown, date navigation, the batch size (for example 15-min batches), a settings cog (which takes you directly to Hot Production settings), and a close button.
The bench is organised around batches:
Area | Explainer |
Next batch | A countdown to the next scheduled batch and the time it's due (Next batch at 9:45 AM). |
Available | What's currently on the counter - ready to serve and sold today - with a tile per recipe. Each tile breaks the total down by the batch it came from, and a Show sold out toggle reveals items that have sold through. |
Now | The batch due in the current slot, with a tile per recipe showing the quantity to make. |
Earlier today | Batches from earlier in the day, flagged Complete or as still incomplete/Pending, with how long ago they were due. |
Coming up | Upcoming batches with their expected quantities. |
Where a group has more batches than fit, use the pager (for example 1/2) or Show all. When there's nothing due, the bench shows Nothing to make right now - you're caught up; when the counter is empty it prompts Shelf empty - make a batch below to stock the counter.
Recording what's made
Product Control Review
With PCR enabled, made quantities are captured in a review rather than straight on the bench (the bench shows batch tiles as in review). Select PCR to open the Hot production review page:
Choose the station from the tabs at the top
Check the Reviewing as [name] banner - quality and label checks are recorded against this user. Select Sign out to switch to someone else first.
Use the arrows to move to the batch you're reviewing (each is labelled with its time window, for example 8:00 AM to 8:15 AM, and shows a Not reviewed badge until done).
Complete each product card (see below).
Select Submit & next batch to move straight on, or Submit review to finish. A Batch review submitted confirmation appears.
Each product card carries:
Field | Explainer |
Made by | The person who made the item. Choose them from the dropdown - the quality and label checks stay locked until a user is selected (Select a user first). |
Planned | How many the plan called for, shown as a badge. |
Made | How many were actually produced. |
Rejected | How many were made but not usable. |
Quality check / Label check | Tick each once it's been carried out. |
Use + Add product to record something made that wasn't on the plan. A completed card collapses to a Complete state with the time and a Made badge.
No Product Control Review
With PCR switched off, there's no separate review step - the team records what's made directly on the bench.
If the you have made the planned quantity just click the white box on the recipe tile.
If you have made more/less than the planned quantity click the pencil icon and use the + and - buttons to change the quantity.
When you click save we record this as the made quantity, so only click save once you have the correct number input.
