Edusfere Dashboard Update
You now have an additional option on the left hand side of your screen. You can click on Dashboard, User Management, Curriculum Hub or Settings to see the views you’re used to. Click on Calendar (Beta) to get started with the new feature.
Calendar Set Up
Before teachers can do anything, you will need to setup at least one instructional period. To do so, click into the calendar, and click +Add Instructional period.
Instruction period: defines the date range for a curriculum plan and calendar syncing. You can create as many as you need and they can be any length — but since instructional periods cannot overlap, it's important to set them up in a way that matches how your school runs.
A good rule of thumb: if your school runs on semesters, create a separate instructional period for each one. Setting up a full-year instructional period when teachers have semester-based classes will make it difficult for them to plan and adjust their calendars accurately.
To add one, click Add, enter a name (e.g., 25-26 Semester 2), select your date range, assign a color, and click Create. Teachers will be able to start planning immediately.
Adding Special Events, Holidays, or No School Days
You can add items to the school calendar such as no school days, holidays, or special events. To do so, click on, Add Event and select the type you want to add.
No School Days/Holidays: these will be visible on all teacher's calendars, and no new classes will be able to be scheduled on these dates. Classes already scheduled by teachers will not be affected.
Special Event: Teachers who teach these grades will see a notification about the event. Lessons will not automatically be canceled but teachers will have the option to do so on their side. Examples of special events would be: assembly, rehearsal, field trip, etc.
School Week View
The system is auto set to have the calendar defaulted to Monday - Friday, but you have the option to adjust if desired.
To do so, log into Edusfere as an admin and click on Settings. Under General Settings, you will see School Week. Here you can select any of our three options:
Monday - Friday
Sunday - Thursday
Tuesday - Saturday
Click on the desired option and make sure to click Update. Your teacher's calendars will immediately reflect the option chosen.
Ongoing Use
As teaches begin using their calendar and adding courses, you will see them appear on your side. You have the option to view as a week, day, or month. The view will show you the number of lessons in a day, and clicking on that will present a list with all of the teachers names who have scheduled a class that day. You can search the list to find a specific name if desired.
You can click on any individual teacher and it will take you to their calendar on their user management page. In this view, you will be able to see the details of their lessons planned (you can click in to see all the details), along with any events they may have added to their calendar.
You may also find the teacher's individual calendar by clicking on User Management, clicking on their name, and selecting the Class Calendar Beta tab.
