What it does: An instructional period defines the date range for a curriculum plan and calendar syncing. You can create as many as you need, but since they can't overlap, set them up to match how your school operates. Teachers will not be able to plan out their calendar until an instructional period is set.
Planning tip: You can create one instructional period for the full school year or a separate one for each term. With a full-year period, teachers with semester-based or shorter classes set a Last Day of Class when they create each class, so year-long classes only need to be set up once. With separate terms, teachers set up their classes in each term.
To add an instructional period:
Click Class Calendar
Click Instructional Periods
Click Add Instructional Period
Enter a name (e.g., "26-27 School Year" or "26-27 Semester 1")
Select your date range
Assign a color
Click Create
Teachers will be able to start planning immediately.
To add school calendar events:
Once you've created an instructional period, you can add special events, holidays, or no-school days. Click Add Event and select the type.
No School Days/Holidays: Visible on all teacher calendars. Teachers can't schedule new classes on these dates, but existing classes remain unaffected.
Special Events: Teachers who teach those grades see a notification (assembly, rehearsal, field trip, etc.). Lessons aren't automatically canceled, but teachers can cancel them on their side.
