Teacher How To: Add Lessons

This article walks you through setting up, editing, and reviewing a lesson.

Written by Heather Schultz

There are three ways to add lessons to your unit: import from an existing lesson, use Smart Assist, or manually create them.

Import a lesson plan:

  1. Make sure you're in the correct unit, and click + Add lesson

  2. Click Import inside the lesson form (top right)

  3. Choose your import source:

    • Upload File: PDF, docx, pptx, image files, and even a photo of your handwritten lesson plan

    • Google Drive: Browse and attach

    • Paste Text: Copy and paste directly (formatting will be handled automatically)

  4. Click Import

AI will pull in objectives, vocabulary, materials, and activities to build a complete lesson for your review.

Review and adjust the imported lesson:

  1. Verify Learning Objectives are correct. You can add, edit, or delete. You can also attach standards now or later. For more information on standards, see our Guide to Applying Standards

  2. Confirm Vocabulary terms and definitions. You can add more now or later.

  3. Review Activities for instructions, durations, objectives, and materials; add, edit, or delete as needed

  4. Add materials to activities:

    • Click +Add under the Materials section

    • Physical materials: Click to select or type and press Enter (turns green when selected)

    • Files: Click the File tab to upload, import from Google Drive, or create a new file in Edusfere

    • Links: Click the Link tab and paste the URL

    • Click Add Materials when finished

  5. Click Save if you made any changes

  6. Mark the lesson Complete when it's ready for classroom use

You can return anytime to adjust or add information.

Create a lesson via Smart Assist or manual entry:

  1. Inside your unit, click +Add Lesson

  2. Give your lesson a title

  3. Add Learning Objectives (optional but recommended; can be added now or later)

  4. Add Vocabulary (optional; can be added now or later)

  5. Click +Add Activity

  6. Build your activity using one of two methods:

    • Manual Input: Click to type out all activity steps and details

    • Smart Assist: Type a short description, click Generate, and AI will create the steps (review and adjust to match your lesson)

  7. Add any materials desired (follow the same steps as above)

  8. Click Save

  9. Add additional activities as needed by repeating steps 5–8

  10. Click Complete at the top when finished

You can return anytime to adjust or add information.
