As a moderator for an Effi broadcast, your role is to help create a safe, engaging, and well-paced chat experience for everyone tuning in. Effi gives moderators access to the Moderation Panel—a powerful tool that lets you manage and curate messages from all platforms in one place, thanks to Chat Pro’s unified chat.

Whether you're moderating a fast-moving product launch or a panel discussion, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know.

What You’ll See in the Moderation Panel

Once you’re invited to moderate, you’ll only see the Moderation Panel. Here’s what each section does:

1. Chat Pro List: If you are using more than one Chat Pro in your event, they will be listed at the top. They will each require separate moderation, but you can toggle between them from this panel.

2. Chat Preview: This shows you the chat window exactly as the audience sees it.

3. Delay: The time you want between messages in the queue. The default is 20 seconds. But this number really depends on how many comments are coming in. For example, if you have a lot of comments, you probably want to make that number lower so more get seen and no one comment is on screen for too long.

4. All: This column shows you all the incoming messages from all of the platforms you are streaming to.

5. Favorite: This column shows you all the messages you've favorited.

6. Queue: This column is the list of messages that you've decided will be shown to the audience. They are displayed from top to bottom.

7. Send all messages to Queue: Toggling this option on will automatically send all incoming messages to the queue.

8. Filter words: As you can see in the description, we have a database of inappropriate, hateful, and harassing words, expressions, and emojis. Toggling this option will filter those out. But note that this only applies when you have "Send all messages to Queue" turned on as well.

9. Enter additional words to filter: This field is for you to enter anything else you'd like to filter from the chat.

10. Invite Moderator: This button allows you to invite someone as a moderator. They will not have access to any other part of your event or account, only the Moderation Panel.

That covers the basics of the Moderation Panel but to understand how to use it, we need to discuss those symbols you see next to each message.

Button Functions

Your Role as a Moderator

As a moderator, your job is to:

  • Keep the chat clean – Only show relevant, respectful messages.

  • Keep it flowing – Manage message pacing with the delay input.

  • Highlight key moments – Favorite or queue messages that support the show, celebrate the brand, or ask great questions.

  • Be responsive – In fast-paced events, a second moderator may be helpful. Coordinate with your team if needed.

💡Pro Tip: Use Favorites to Build a Flow

If you're not sure when to display a great message, favorite it and return to it later. This helps you stay organized when the chat gets busy.

You can also use the favorites option to save messages for a Q&A round or other special segments.

That’s it! With just the Moderation Panel, you play a big role in shaping how the audience experiences the conversation. Take the reins, keep things fun and respectful, and help make every broadcast unforgettable.
