Managing and assigning judges
Judges can be set up in two ways, depending on how your competition is structured (see the tutorial video below for a demonstration):
By subdivision, using the Judges screen
By apparatus and category, using the Discipline setup screen
Assigning judges by subdivision
After gymnasts have been added to the competition and the schedule has been published, the Judges screen will display available judging slots for each scheduled subdivision.
To access this screen, click the flag icon in the left-hand navigation.
On the Judges screen, you can:
Click an available judging position and select a judge from your list of already registered contacts
Add a judge by name only and enter the phone number later, or add a judge directly by phone number
Assign multiple E judges and Supervisor judges to the same subdivision
Unassign judges or remove judging roles entirely
Assigning judges to apparatuses by category
Judges can also be assigned directly to a specific apparatus within a category.
To do this, open the Discipline setup screen (the same screen used to add gymnasts to the competition) and navigate to the Judges tab.
From there, you can:
Click an available judging position and choose a judge from your registered contacts
Add a judge by name only and provide the phone number later, or add a judge directly by phone number
Assign multiple E judges and Supervisor judges
Unassign judges or remove judging roles entirely
Judges and phone numbers
For judges to be properly assigned and able to judge, they must:
Be registered on Elevien
Have the correct phone number entered by the competition administrator
If a judge does not have a phone number entered, or if the number is incorrect:
The judge will not see their judging role in the app
The judge will not be able to judge the competition
Schedule and publishing requirements
The competition schedule plays a critical role in judging.
Always ensure that the schedule is up to date and that you click Publish after every change. When judges are assigned by subdivision, any schedule changes may affect those assignments.
If schedule changes are made but not published, judges entering the judging flow will not see the correct starting lists.
Please note:
The Publish button affects both MAG and WAG simultaneously
Judges cannot see or judge the competition until the schedule is published
Until publishing, any schedule changes are visible only to the competition owner and administrators, not to judges or the audience
Add judges without phone numbers
This is especially useful when you already know the judge panel but don’t yet have all phone numbers. Add a judge by name as a placeholder, build the panel, and simply add the correct number later — no need to redo assignments. Navigate to the Judges tab in the main menu to add judges without phone numbers, unassign roles, or remove judging roles as needed.
Replace or remove judges
Sometimes a judge needs to be changed at the last minute — for example, due to an absence or an incorrect phone number. You can replace a judge across all their positions at any time, before or during the competition. If scores have already been entered, you can choose whether to keep them or remove them.
When removing a judge, you have two options:
Unassign judge — clears the position but keeps the role open so you can assign someone else later.
Remove judging role — deletes the role entirely and shifts the remaining roles (for example, E3 becomes E2).
Tip: You can assign a judge to any slot (like E2) even if the previous slot (E1) is still empty.
Copy judge panels on the web
Copy existing judge panels to other subdivisions or apparatuses in just a few clicks.
Go to the top toolbar and click the flag icon (Judges).
If needed, add judges to the jury first.
Next to an apparatus name, click the copy icon.
Choose the apparatus and subdivisions to copy to.
Confirm — the selected jury is copied where you need it.
This saves time and keeps panels consistent across the competition.
