Your printer integration device (PID) is the small tablet that connects your printer to eMenu. It needs an internet connection to receive orders.
Ethernet is always the better option because it does not drop. Use WiFi only where no ethernet port is available near the printer.
Time needed: around 10 minutes, most of it waiting.
Who does this: you or anyone on site. No support call needed.
Before you start
The PID, its power cable and the plug adapter
Your venue WiFi name and password
A phone or tablet you can connect to WiFi

Step 1. Power up the PID and wait
Who: you. Time: 5 to 10 minutes.
Plug the PID into a power socket. Do not connect an ethernet cable.
When the PID cannot find an internet connection, it creates its own temporary WiFi network so you can give it your details. This takes 5 to 10 minutes to appear, so leave it alone during this time.
Done when: a WiFi network called EMenu Setup appears in the WiFi list on your phone.

Step 2. Connect your phone to the EMenu Setup network
Who: you. Time: 1 minute.
On your phone, open WiFi settings and tap EMenu Setup.
Password: emenusetup1234
Your phone will say there is no internet on this network. That is correct. You are connected to the PID, not to the web.
Done when: your phone shows it is connected to EMenu Setup.

Step 3. Open the setup page
Who: you. Time: 1 minute.
Open your browser and go to http://setup.emenunow.com
Type http:// at the front. If your browser changes it to https, remove the s and try again.
The page lists the WiFi networks the PID can see. If the list is empty, reload the page. It often needs one reload before the networks appear.
Done when: you can see your venue WiFi name in the list on the page.

Step 4. Enter your WiFi details
Who: you. Time: 1 minute.
Tap your venue WiFi name, type the password, then tap Connect.
Check the password carefully. A wrong password is the most common reason this step fails, and the page will not always tell you.
Done when: you have tapped Connect.

Step 5. Let your phone drop off
Who: nobody. Time: 1 to 2 minutes.
Shortly after you tap Connect, the PID switches off its own network and joins yours. Your browser will lose its connection and your phone will hop back onto its normal WiFi.
This looks like something has gone wrong. It has not. Losing the page is the sign the PID has taken your details.
Done when: your phone is back on its normal WiFi and the EMenu Setup network has gone from the list.
Step 6. Check the PID is online in eMenu
Who: you. Time: 5 minutes, mostly waiting.
In your eMenu dashboard, press the burger menu, then Configuration, then Devices.
Your PID should show as online. Allow up to 5 minutes from the moment your phone dropped off.
Done when: the PID shows online on the Devices page, and a test order prints on the printer attached to it.

When it does not work
The EMenu Setup network never appears. Unplug the power, plug it back in, and wait a full 10 minutes without touching it. The network only appears once the PID has given up looking for a connection.
The setup page will not load. Check your phone is still on EMenu Setup and not back on the venue WiFi. Phones often hop back to a network with internet on their own. Reconnect to EMenu Setup and reload the page.
The page loads but no networks are listed. Reload the page once or twice. If still empty, the PID may be too far from the router to see it.
You tapped Connect but the PID is still offline after 10 minutes. The password was probably wrong, or the network is one the PID cannot join, for example a guest network with a sign in page. Power cycle the PID and start again with the password written down in front of you.
You have an ethernet port nearby. Use it. Plug the ethernet cable in, wait 5 minutes and the PID will come online without any of the steps above.
Still stuck
Contact support on the live chat in your dashboard, or on the support line, and tell us that the PID is not coming online after a WiFi setup attempt. Support is available 24/7.
