We all know there's a real problem with scammers pretending to be people or businesses they're actually not. Our processes are set up so that you will always know it's Emerge contacting you.
How Emerge will contact you
Our primary mode of communication is through in-app chat, so it should be rare you're receiving a phone call from us. If there's an instance we need to call you, we use a concept of a "two-way handshake". This basically means that we, Emerge, know we're contacting the customer (you) and you, the customer, know that it's Emerge calling.
Make sure we can contact you
Given that in-app chat is our primary mode of communication, you'll want double-check:
Your email address is verified on Emerge. Head to Manage > Personal Settings > Personal details and scroll down to Email address and you should see "Verified" next to your email.
You have push notifications enabled.
How can you verify it's Emerge calling?
Before the call, we will send you a message via our in-app chat with a 6-digit code. This is the code we will read aloud to you when you answer the call so you can confirm it's Emerge calling.
How will Emerge verify you?
Once you confirm it's us, we will then ask you security questions to make sure we have the right person.
What we will not do
We will never
Call you without letting you know first
Ask you to move money in any capacity
Make you download any other app to resolve an issue
Ask for your card details or PIN
Ask you for any verification codes sent via SMS
What to do when you suspect something is wrong
If you weren't expecting a call from Emerge - hang up.
Don't try to call the number back. If you're not sure, you can always reach out to us via the in-app chat to confirm whether we were trying to contact you.
Do not give out any sensitive information such as PINs, account numbers or passcodes.
If you receive a text asking you to move money from your Emerge or there's suspicious activity, ignore it and let us know.
