Empego and Nursing Care

Using Empego allows nurses to optimize their practice by standardizing data collection, facilitating follow-up management and automating several reminders. This enables them to provide more targeted care, reduce unexpected calls and collaborate more effectively with pharmacists in patient care.

Empego therefore supports smooth teamwork while improving the quality and continuity of care provided to patients.

💡 Did you know? You can add your Empego consultation links to your appointment-booking platform so patients can complete a questionnaire before their visit.

Vaccination and injections

🎯 Objective: To document and standardize the process while streamlining appointment handling.

Questionnaires and Content

Pre-vaccination Questionnaires

Module(s)

Consultation & Follow-up

Content

Data collection to assess patient status and vaccination eligibility before the appointment.

→ Examples: COVID, influenza, shingles, etc.

Recommended Implementation

Send the pre-vaccination questionnaire to the patient on the morning of the appointment or the day before. This allows the patient to complete it in advance, speeding up care. If the questionnaire is not completed beforehand, it can simply be filled out upon arrival at the pharmacy.

Tip: The questionnaire is also available in the follow-up module. For an appointment with multiple vaccines, send the pre-vaccination follow-up and select all planned vaccines.

💡 Are you using Clic Santé?

If your patients have already completed a questionnaire before their appointment, the pre-vaccination questionnaires for COVID-19 and influenza are equivalent. To avoid the patient answering the same questions twice, these can be skipped.

However, for all other vaccines, Empego questionnaires remain relevant, as they include specific questions related to patient eligibility (for example, for Shingrix: history of shingles or prior vaccination with Zostavax within the last 12 months).

Traveler's Health

Module(s)

Consultation

Content

Data collection to assess patient needs, including evaluation of traveler’s diarrhea, malaria, acute mountain sickness, and vaccination requirements, in order to determine appropriate treatments and preventive measures.

Recommended Implementation

Send the questionnaire to the patient when they visit the pharmacy for travel-related care, ideally before the appointment. The patient completes it, after which the nurse reviews it and provides vaccination and treatment recommendations. The questionnaire can then be forwarded to the pharmacist for a final review.

Travel Health Immunization

Module(s)

Consultation

Content

Data collection to assess the patient’s vaccination needs and determine appropriate vaccines and preventive measures.

Recommended Implementation

Vaccine Dose Reminder

Module(s)

Follow-up

Content

Remind the patient that an appointment is already scheduled for their next vaccine dose; if no appointment has been set, invite them to book one at the pharmacy for that dose, and conduct a brief follow-up on the last dose received.

Recommended Implementation

If an appointment is scheduled:

Schedule the follow-up to be sent after the first appointment so that the patient receives it the day before their next appointment.

If no appointment is scheduled:

Schedule the follow-up to be sent after the first appointment, in line with the recommended interval between the two doses.

If you want the patient to book an online appointment, include a personalized message or a question containing the link to the booking site.

Medication Injection Reminder

Module(s)

Follow-up

Content

Remind the patient to renew an injectable or to confirm an appointment for the next injection, while asking a few questions about treatment tolerance.

Recommended Implementation

Schedule a recurring follow-up, for example, every 6 months for Prolia, according to the required injection frequency.

Initial date: Send the reminder one week before the scheduled date to allow time for product ordering or to follow up with the patient if there is no response.

If you want the patient to book an online appointment, include a personalized message or a question containing the link to the booking site.

Follow-ups in Collaboration with the Pharmacist

🎯 Objective: Prioritize patients, guide the intervention, and prepare the discussion with the pharmacist when necessary.

Recommended Implementation:

Within the workflow, the pharmacist identifies patients who require follow-up, schedules the follow-up, and assigns it to the nurse.

If the patient is unable to complete the questionnaire on their own, the nurse assists them with the follow-up.

When the questionnaire is sent to the patient via SMS or email and the patient responds, the nurse reviews the answers, provides appropriate clinical recommendations, and assigns follow-up to the pharmacist for final review, if needed.

💡 Want to delegate follow-up scheduling?

Use the follow-up delegation coupons: you can fill in the relevant information and give them to the nurse so they can schedule the follow-up accordingly.
