Uploading a document into a new Matter/Session
You have two main options for uploading documents:
Click on the '+' button next to Files in the left-hand panel.
When opening a new Matter, use the left-hand side of the screen as your knowledge sidebar, it is where you will inspect, reference, and organize your case information.
Use the “Using Files (All)” button.
Click the
button under the Talk to Eve chat option to browse for the documents that you want to upload. Note that this “Using Files” button is available to you at all times, not just at the start of your work; it will also show you the documents you select for Eve to generate her answers.
After selecting documents, you'll see a confirmation screen where you can review your selection, remove unwanted files, or add more documents.
Managing your documents
Once uploaded, documents appear both in the left panel and when clicking on 'Using Files':
Active documents (in use in the current Session) are marked with a blue checkmark. You can 'Select all' or pick and choose the documents you need to be marked through the Using Files button before asking questions to Eve.
Available but inactive documents appear in the list without checkmarks
Click any document name to preview it in the left half of your screen
Search and sort documents as needed
Document management options:
Rename or delete documents using the three dots menu next to each document name
Use the Search function to locate specific documents in large collections
“Pin” a document to the Matter ➡️ This will make it easier to open new Sessions and have Eve reference your core case documents, without having to select them with the checkmark.
💡 Pro Tip: You can also open blank documents or paste in plain text into Eve, without uploading a document. Read more about plain text documents here.
