How To Create An Artist Account

Signing in, choosing your role, claiming your artist profile, and publishing your first release.

Setting up your artist account takes three steps and a few minutes. There is no approval queue and no waiting period — once you finish setup, you can upload and start selling.

On the Get started on EVEN for Artists screen, enter your email address and click Continue. You can switch to a phone number instead using the toggle next to the field, or sign in with Google or Apple.

We send you a six-digit code. Enter it to continue. If it does not arrive, use Resend code or use a different email on that screen.

There is no password to create or remember.

Accept the terms

Next you will see Let's Get You Set Up with the Terms and Conditions. Scroll through them, then click Accept & Continue.

Step 1: Tell us which one you are

On Which best describes you?, pick one:

  • Artist — you make music, or you are part of an artist's team

  • Record Label — you represent a label managing multiple artists

Your choice changes what Backstage sets up for you, so pick the one that matches how you will actually use it. The rest of this article follows the Artist path.

Step 2: Claim your artist profile

On Claim Your Artist Profile, search your artist name. We look across streaming platforms and pull in your name, photo, and music so you do not have to build a profile from scratch.

Find yourself in the results, click Continue as [your artist name], then confirm with Yes, this is me.

Only claim a profile that is actually yours. Claiming someone else's can get your profile removed.

If claiming does not go smoothly

You cannot find your profile. Use the Can't find your profile? option to skip this step. You will fill in your artist name and photo by hand on the next screen instead. Nothing is lost — you can still release.

Your profile is already claimed. You will see a message that the profile is already linked to an EVEN account. If that is not you, or you think it is a mistake, email support@even.biz and we will look into it.

A notice says your account may need extra verification. Keep going and finish setup. If you run into anything you cannot complete, email support@even.biz with your artist name and we will sort it out.

Step 3: Confirm your details

The last screen asks for three things.

Your public EVEN link. This is the address fans use to find you, ending in .even.biz. Letters, numbers, and hyphens only. This cannot be changed later, so choose carefully. If the one you want is taken, you will be told and can try another.

Your music distributor. Pick yours from the list.

Whether you are registered with a PRO. Tick the box and choose your PRO if you are.

Click Start creating and you are in Backstage, ready to go.

If your distributor is an EVEN partner

Some distributors partner with EVEN. If yours does, you will see a screen telling you your profile is ready to go, along with what the partnership includes — Backstage access, three months of Fan Connect, extra promotional reach, daily payouts, and support from our team.

Click Continue with [your distributor] to take it, or Set up on my own to go through the normal setup instead.

Before you publish: the copyright check

Your account does not hold you up, but the audio check does. Every track you upload is automatically scanned for copyright.

If a track is flagged, you cannot publish that release. If it was already live, it is pulled from sale automatically and moved to a Disputed status. That includes tracks you add to a release later. Applies to releases published on or after 7 August 2026.

So upload early rather than on launch day, and only upload audio you hold the rights to. If something does get flagged, read My Release Has A Copyright Flag for what to send us.

EVEN also runs a separate AI check. That one adds a disclosure tag your fans can see, and it does not block your release.

If you already have a fan account

If the email you sign in with already has an EVEN fan account, you will see Looking for your Fan account?. Backstage is the artist and label side of EVEN, separate from where you buy music.

Choose Continue to EVEN for Artists to keep setting up your artist account, or Go to my Fan account if you landed here by accident.

Set up your payouts next

You will see a reminder in Backstage to connect your payout account. Do it early. Payouts run through Stripe, and your earnings cannot reach you until it is connected.

Stuck on any step? Email support@even.biz with your artist name and where you got stuck. We answer Monday through Saturday, 9 AM to 6 PM ET.
