Add & Manage Map Fencing

Fencing allows you to define boundaries, manage crowd flow, and plan infrastructure across your event. You can draw fencing directly on your map, calculate total length, and determine how many panels are required.

Add Fencing

To add fencing, select the Fencing Tool from the left-hand panel, then choose the type of fence you want to add.

Click to start drawing your fence and continue clicking to create each segment.

As you draw, you'll see the total fence length, helping you quickly understand how much fencing is required.

To complete a section, double click.

Edit Fencing Details

Once your fencing is created, you can edit its details in the right-hand panel.

In the Attributes tab, you can:

  • Rename the fencing

  • Assign a supplier

  • Add custom attributes

  • Add event-specific information

You can also adjust the segment length, which defines how long each panel is.

This allows EventLab to calculate how many fencing panels are required, making planning equipment and logistics much easier.

Save as a Custom Fence

If you regularly use a specific segment length, you can save time by creating a custom fencing object. Instead of manually updating the segment length each time, you can:

  1. Create a fence line

  2. Adjust the segment length in the right-hand panel

  3. Click the three dots in the top right

  4. Select Save as Custom Object

  5. Give it a name (e.g. by supplier or event)

You can then reuse this custom fence in future maps without needing to reconfigure it each time.

Style Your Fencing

In the Styles tab, you can customise how your fencing appears on the map.

You can:

  • Change border color

  • Adjust stroke width

This helps you visually distinguish between different fencing types or zones.

Adjust Fencing

To edit a fence:

  • Click on the fencing

  • Double click one of the nodes

  • Click and drag any of the nodes

Split Fencing

You can also split an existing fence into separate sections.

To do this:

  • Click on the fence

  • Click one of the fence nodes

  • In the bottom toolbar, select the scissors icon

    • Or use the shortcut S

This will split the fencing into two separate fence segments.
