Setting up Mailchimp SMTP

You can use Mailchimp as your email provider for sending event notifications in Evey. All you need is your Mailchimp API key and a verified sender email address.


Step 1: Generate a Mailchimp API Key

  1. Log in to your Mailchimp account - or you can click MailChimp inside the Apps inside Shopify.

  2. Inside MailChimp -> Search for API.

  3. Select "API Keys"

  4. Click Create A Key.

  5. Choose a descriptive name, so you know which application uses that key.

    1. Something like: Evey-ESP or Evey Tickets

  6. Click Generate Key

  7. Copy the generated API key and click Done. It will look something like:

Step 2: Configure Mailchimp in Evey

  1. Go to your Evey Events Dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Settings

  3. Select Email Provider.

  4. From the dropdown, select Mailchimp.

  5. Paste the API Key you copied from Mailchimp.

  6. Enter your Sender Email Address - this must be an email you own and that is verified in Mailchimp.

    ⚠️ Important: To avoid emails going to spam, make sure your sending domain is authenticated in Mailchimp (DKIM/SPF setup). See Mailchimp’s guide: Authenticate your domain.

  7. Click Update Settings to save.


Step 3: Test Your Setup

  1. Enter an e-mail address at the bottom

  2. Click Send

  3. Check your inbox to confirm delivery.

If you don’t receive the test email, double-check:

  • Your API key is valid.

  • Your sending domain is authenticated.

  • The sender email matches your Mailchimp account.


That’s it! You’re now sending Evey event emails via Mailchimp.
