If you’re using an iCloud email address as your Custom SMTP sender in Evey Events & Tickets, you must use an Apple app-specific password.
Using your normal Apple ID password will cause SMTP authentication to fail, which can prevent ticket emails from being delivered.
When do I need this?
You need an app-specific password if:
Your sender email ends in
@icloud.com,@me.com, or@mac.comTicket emails show as sent in Evey but never arrive
You see authentication failed errors in SMTP
Step 1: Sign in to your Apple account
Go to Apple ID account:
https://account.apple.comSign in using your Apple ID.
Step 2: Generate an App-Specific Password
Scroll to Sign-In and Security
Find App-Specific Passwords
Click Generate Password
Enter a label (example:
Evey SMTP)Apple will generate a password like:
abcd-efgh-ijkl-mnop
⚠️ Important
The password is exactly 16 characters
It includes dashes
This is not your Apple ID password
Step 3: Enter the password in Evey
In Evey → Settings → Email / SMTP:
SMTP Provider: Custom
SMTP Server: smtp.mail.me.com
Port: 587
Domain: icloud.com
Username: your full iCloud email (example:
you@icloud.com)Password: paste the app-specific password, including dashes
Save the settings.
Step 4: Test ticket delivery
Send a test ticket email
Place a test order
Confirm the ticket email arrives (Inbox + Spam)
If it works, your SMTP is now properly authenticated 🎉
Still not working?
If authentication still fails:
Double-check the password length (must be 16 characters)
Generate a new app-specific password and try again
Make sure the sender email exactly matches the iCloud address
If the issue continues, contact Evey Support and let us know you’re using iCloud Custom SMTP with an app-specific password so we can assist faster.
