Should I Turn On Shopify Inventory Tracking for Recurring Events?

Short answer

No.

If you’re using recurring events in Evey, you should not turn on inventory tracking in Shopify.

Why this matters

Recurring events in Evey already manage capacity (how many spots are available).

If Shopify inventory tracking is turned on at the same time:

  • You may see wrong availability

  • Events may show as sold out when they’re not

  • Inventory numbers can become out of sync

What you should do

For recurring events

  • Keep Shopify inventory tracking turned OFF

  • Manage capacity inside Evey only

Where to manage capacity correctly

Always update availability here:

  • Go to Evey → Event → Edit Event

  • Adjust the capacity for each date/session

Do not rely on:

  • Shopify product inventory

  • Manual changes in Shopify

Common issue example

You might see:

  • Event shows sold out

  • But only a few tickets were actually sold

This usually means:

  • Shopify inventory is interfering

  • Or inventory was adjusted outside of Evey

If your inventory looks wrong

  1. Go to your event in Evey

  2. Check the total capacity (original number)

  3. Reset it to the correct total (not remaining spots)

Example:

  • Capacity = 6

  • 4 sold

  • You should still set it to 6, not 2

Important reminder

  • Evey controls ticket availability for recurring events

  • Shopify inventory should not be used at the same time

Mixing both is the main cause of overselling or incorrect “sold out” messages.
