I finished my externship. Why haven't I received my certificate yet?

Certificates follow your cohort's official end date, not the day you finished. Here's when to expect yours and what to do if it's late.

Certificates follow your cohort's end date

Awards and completion certificates are issued after your cohort officially ends, not on the day you finish your work. Finishing early doesn't make your certificate arrive sooner.

Completion certificates are issued approximately three weeks after the end date of your cohort.

Where to check your award status

In the student portal at app.extern.com, open the menu (☰) and select Awards. Your award status shows there once your cohort's end date has passed.

Awards are also sent by email to the address on your Extern account, so check your spam or promotions folder too. You don't need an active subscription to receive an award you've earned.

Still nothing?

If it has been more than three weeks since your cohort's end date and you don't see your award, reply to support with your program name and cohort dates, and we'll check your record.
