Welcome to In-app Payments!

Famly is an all-in-one platform to engage with your child's center and pay your bill - all in one mobile app! Say goodbye to multiple logins.

If your center is using Famly for in-app payments, and you are listed as a bill payer for your child(ren), you will be able to:

  • Check your Balance

  • Receive invoices

  • Pay your bill

  • Add preferred payment methods

  • Set up auto-pay

  • Pull your own tax statements (if your center is on our Essentials or Premium packages)

Let's walk through everything you need to know about payments setup below!

NOTE: Please request from your center’s team if you want to do any of these items. These are managed by your center and cannot by configured as the bill payer:

  • Receive invoices - ensure you are a listed bill payer and invoice recipient for your child(ren)

  • Split a bill with another bill payer (% split)

  • Add additional invoice recipients to view and pay a shared bill

  • Add your address to your invoices to make your tax statements and invoices pretty and complete 😊

  • Become a bill payer for multiple children


Getting started

If you are just getting started with in-app payments, you will be prompted to set up a payment method on file. You can also go automatic to save you time and ensure timely payments!

NOTE: If your center has set up required payment methods to be on file, or required automatic payments, you will be prompted with requirements accordingly. If you do not set up the required information, you will be locked out of your Famly account until completion of required payment method on file and/or automatic payments being turned on. The below screenshots are provided without these requirements enabled!

Here are some of the prompts you'll see in your Newsfeed when you get started. You can also set things up from your Balance tab, which we'll review below.

Add a Payment Method

Follow the prompts from your Newsfeed (as pictured above) or from within your Balance tab to add your payment method!

Famly supports Credit card, Debit card and ACH / Direct Deposit. You will be able to set up all method(s) that your child's center allows you to use.

NOTE ON ACH SETUP: At the moment, Instant Verification is to be completed on a mobile phone browser or computer, not the Famly smartphone app. Doing ACH setup from the mobile app will run into errors with Stripe connection and authentication. To set up ACH as a parent/bill payer, you'll see a notification like this in your app, directing you to a browser to complete setup:

NOTE for parents that are also staff members: This will not default you to browser as a staff member / parent (combined role). So if you are a staff member, please go to https://app.famly.co/#/login and follow the prompts.

Log in to Famly on desktop:

  1. Login: your Famly email is your login; enter your password

  2. Follow the prompts to complete ACH verification with your bank (ACH screenshots below)

Instant verification:

Note: If you prefer Manual Verification, you can click on Manually verify instead at the bottom of the pop-up.

  • Two microdeposits will land in your bank account within the next business day or two.

  • As soon as they appear, you need to add the amounts of the two microdeposits in your Famly account.

  • To do so, go to your Balance tab and verify the payment method with the two microdeposit amounts.

From the mobile app, go to your profile (profile icon bottom right).

You can do everything related to payments from Balance!

Set or change your active payment method from Balance:

You can always change an activate payment method on file from Balance:

Pay Invoice Manually

You can pay your balance directly from the Newsfeed, or from your Balance tab!

From newsfeed:

Note:

  • If you are on auto-pay, this will be light purple, and no manual action is required.

  • If your center allows you to pay a custom amount, you can also edit the Amount you wish to pay.

From Balance, click the dark purple "Pay" button next to Balance.

Fees

Fees: Your center may pass processing fees on to you as the bill payer. Please reach out to your center as the merchant if you have any questions on your center's fee policy.

Fees that a parent pays are:

  • ACH / Direct Debit

    $2 if passed onto parents

  • Card Pricing

    2.8%

  • Non-US cards, AMEX, corporate cards

    3.25%

Please note, if you are on autopay, the fee calculation will not appear prior to purchase.

Example

Here is a scenario to help you understand how fees are applied to your total.

An invoice of $100
Fee = 2.8% on $100+fee = $100 / (1-0.028) - $100 = $2.88


Your Account Balance

Famly auto alerts you via Notification in-app in the Newsfeed, and via email that you have a new invoice. Only if your center turns off the notification of an invoice would you not receive this heads-up from Famly.

See what you owe currently, and review all past transactions (invoices, payments, credits and more) in your bill payer account ledger:


Payment Confirmations and Failures

You will get confirmations of payment success and failure via email, not via in-app notification. Example here:

Your balance account ledger will show the reason why your payment failed, if you are looking for that information.

Your bank statement will show payments to "famly". This may be customized by your child's center to say something to the extent of "[center name] - famly", as well.
