🐰What is Single BAP?

A complete guide to one of the three BAP types in Fast Bundle

Updated today

Single BAP (Bundle As a Product) is one of the three BAP types offered by Fast Bundle. It’s called “Single” because it generates one new product that represents all the items in the bundle.

For example, if you create a bundle of Shirts + Pants, a new product, such as "Shirt & Pant Set", will be created in your Shopify store to represent that bundle as a single purchasable item.

This bundle product behaves just like any other product in your Shopify admin: it has its own SKU, inventory, and product page.

How Is Single BAP Displayed?

The main difference between the three BAP types lies in how the bundle is presented in the cart, checkout, and order details.

To set a bundle to display as a Single BAP, follow one of these steps:

  • While creating a new bundle:
In the “How to present the bundle in cart, checkout, and order” section, select
“As a single product (Single BAP)”.

  • For an existing bundle:
Go to the Fast Bundle app > Bundles tab > click on the bundle you want to edit.
Then, scroll to the “How to present the bundle in cart, checkout, and order” section and select “As a single product (Single BAP)”.

⚠️ Important Notes:

  1. When switching a Single BAP to Multi or Cart Transform BAP, all previous product information, such as description, media, metafields, etc., will be lost.
We highly recommend backing up this information before making the change.

  2. When you create a Fixed bundle using the "Apply discount to specific products only" option, the Single BAP type will not be available. You’ll only be able to choose between Multi BAP and Cart Transform.

Adding to the cart:

Let's take the "Choose Your Marvel Hero" as an example, add it to the cart, and see how it appears in the cart, checkout, and orders:

In this case, when the customer clicks the Add to Cart button, the Bundle As a Product (Single BAP) is added to the cart and checkout as a single line item.

The included products in the bundle are displayed below the bundle name, similar to how variants are shown.
In other words, the entire bundle is treated as one product, and the bundled items are visually listed as if they are variants of that product.

Inventory Handling

Fast Bundle automatically updates inventory levels for both the bundle product and the individual items included in the Single BAP.

1. Decreasing the Inventory of the Single BAP

When a customer purchases the bundle, the inventory of the Single BAP product itself is reduced by 1.
For example, if the "Choose Your Marvel Hero" bundle is sold, its product inventory will decrease accordingly.

2. Decreasing the Inventory of the Included Items

In addition to the main bundle product, the inventory of the individual items inside the bundle will also decrease when the order is paid or authorized.
Continuing with the example above, the inventory of the following products will each be reduced by 1:

  • Gold / Medium Groot Keychain

  • Gold / Medium Spiderman Keychain

  • Pink Fairy Batman Keychain

  • Joker Keychain.

Discount Application:

In a Single BAP bundle, the total price of the items in the bundle becomes the Compare at price, and the discounted price you set in the bundle settings becomes the Final price.

As a result, Single BAP bundles do not use discount codes or show discount tags. Instead, they behave like regular Shopify products, and any applicable discount codes in your store can be applied to them.

Important Notes

  1. A new SKU is generated for Single BAP since it is treated as a standalone Shopify product.

  2. Single BAPs are added to the cart as a single line item, so customers cannot remove individual items from the bundle, and the bundle must be purchased in full, exactly as it is configured.

  3. Like any standard Shopify product, Single BAPs are subject to the Shopify variant limit of 100 per product.

  4. The Single BAP is only available on the Fixed bundle.

  5. If you want to sell a bundle via Shopify POS, and the items' inventory updates accordingly, you need to create a Single BAP.

Want to See the Included Items in the Order?

If you'd like to see the individual SKUs of bundled items in the order, Fast Bundle offers a feature called:

Single-BAP Order Action (Enterprise Plan only)

This feature allows your Single BAP to be split into its constituent products after purchase, for better warehouse processing and reporting.

Single BAP Order Action Options

You can choose between two options for how orders are edited after checkout:

Option 1: Add Products with BAP

One option that you can ask us to enable for you is when such a Bundle As a Product gets purchased, the included products in the bundle get added to the order along with the Bundle As a Product after the order gets placed with 0 prices. In the example below, when the "Black Friday Set: Lee Straight Jean + Lexie Shirt" product gets bought by a user, the order will be edited like the image below:

Option 2: Add Products, Remove BAP

Another option that you can ask us to enable for you is when such a Bundle As a Product gets purchased, the included products in the bundle get added to the order with their discounted price, and the Bundle As a Product gets removed from the order. For example, when the "Black Friday Set: Lee Straight Jean + Lexie Shirt" product gets bought by a user, the order will be changed like the image below:

Conditions

Because this feature entails editing orders with Single-BAPs, Shopify needs to permit editing of those orders. Therefore, for the Single-BAP order action to work, the following conditions must be met:

1. The order should be "Paid" or "Authorized".

2. The order should be in the main currency of the shop.

3. The order shipping method must not be "Local Delivery".

4. The order must not be created by another app. (Like Facebook and Instagram by Meta)

5. The order must not have "Scheduled fulfillment".
