What is Ledger?

What can I do in Ledger? How to record items in Ledger?

Updated over 2 years ago

The Ledger is a tool used to record all the business transactions of a case, making it easy to track payment details in an organized way and schedule future payments. You can add items such as invoices and various payment types like offline (cash/check), charge (credit card), ACH (bank transfer), and scheduled payments.

Here's how you can use the Ledger:

  1. Click the plus sign in the Ledger module.

  2. Choose the item you want to add (e.g., Invoice).

  3. Fill in the details of the item, such as creating an invoice and clicking "Create Invoice."

  4. In the Ledger, you can see the total balance, with red indicating the balance you need to pay and blue showing the payments you've made toward the bill (Reference numbers 4 - 5).

  5. The invoice can have three statuses: Open, Overdue, and Paid, while payments can have three statuses: Paid, Pending, and Failed (Reference numbers 6).

    • Pending payment means the payment you've made is still in the process or scheduled to proceed.

    • Failed payment means there's a problem with the payment you've made such as your bank account or credit card numbers.

  6. To update an item, click the Edit icon (Reference number 7).

  7. To view the invoice's transcript, click the Transcript icon. If you want to view payment receipt, click the Receipt icon on the payment section (Reference number 8).

  8. To make a payment, click the Dollar icon and choose the payment method such as offline, credit card, or ACH payment. Or you can do it by clicking the "+" button, choosing the payment method you want, and selecting the intended invoice you want to pay (Reference number 9 - 10)

Notes:

  • You can make payments offline without connecting any payment processor to your FastVisa organization.

  • To use a credit card or ACH payments, you need to integrate LawPay or Stripe as your payment processor for your organization.
