Creating exclusive offers with restrictions is a powerful way to drive engagement and incentivize purchases while maintaining control over availability. Whether you want to limit access to a special promotion, set specific purchase conditions, or target a select audience, setting up offers with tailored restrictions can enhance the value and appeal of your deals.

In this article, we’ll walk you through the steps to create exclusive offers with restrictions, helping you leverage this feature to maximize impact and deliver a compelling experience to your customers.

To locate restrictions, head over to the Details Tab within the Offer.

Restrict by Domain

Restricting offers by domain allows you to limit access to specific promotions based on the customer's email domain, which is ideal for targeting exclusive deals to certain organizations, partners, or groups, ensuring that only the intended audience can redeem the offer.

Select Restrict by Domain under Restrict Offer. There, you can add one or more domains to restrict by.

This works with a pre-built Promotion by toggling Yes. In addition, you can lock a shopper's email address, meaning once they enter their email address to access the inventory, this toggle to YES will ensure the shopper is unable to adjust at checkout.

2 Factor Authentication (2FA)

2 Factor Authentication (2FA) is now available for enhanced security: You can now Restrict an Offer by 2 Factor Authentication at the Offer level, adding an extra layer of authenticity to purchases by verifying the buyer's email. This feature, which can operate independently or alongside Promotions, ensures that only legitimate purchases are made.

How it Works:

Setting up 2 Factor Authentication via FEVO Enterprise

  1. When building an Offer, navigate to the Details tab.

  2. Scroll down to the Restrict Offer section

  3. Select 2 Factor Authentication

How it Works:

Social Checkout

  1. Once a shopper selects their inventory and enters their payment and billing information, they will select Confirm

  2. A pop-up notification will occur for the shopper to enter their Email Address for verification

  3. A Verification Code is immediately sent via email

  4. The shopper must enter the Verification Code to continue

  5. Confirm Purchase

Restrict by Email

Restricting Offers by email allows you to tailor promotions to individual users or groups by specifying which email addresses can access certain deals, making it perfect for VIP customers, personalized rewards, or targeted marketing campaigns.

Select Restrict by Email and either enter the email addresses individually or you can Download the Template so you can copy/paste and simply Upload the .csv easily.

Restrict by Discount

Restricting Offers by discount allows you to set parameters for the types of discounts available, ensuring that specific promotions apply only under certain conditions, such as limited-time offers, which can help manage inventory and drive targeted sales strategies.

After you've built your discount in the Codes hub, select Restrict by Discount and check the appropriate discount.

Restrict by Promotion Code

Restricting Offers by promotion code enables you to control access to exclusive deals by requiring customers to enter a specific code, making it ideal for managing special promotions, tracking campaign effectiveness, or offering an exclusive experience to select segments like loyalty program members or event attendees.

After you've built your Promotion Code within the Codes hub, select Restrict by Promotion Code. Then, select the applicable Promotion Code.

Restrict by Zip Code

Restricting Offers by zip code allows you to tailor promotions to specific geographic areas, making it useful for targeting local events, regional sales campaigns, or special offers available only to customers in certain locations.

Under your Offer Details tab, scroll down to the Restrict Your Offer section. Click the dropdown and select Restrict by Zip Code. Enter your zip codes or upload them through the template you can download.

Once restricted, a shopper can see the inventory, however, when they go to checkout, if their billing address does not fall in the correct Zip Code, an error will occur letting them know that the Offer is restricted to certain zip codes.

Gating by Credit Card or BIN

Gating offers by credit card (CC) or Bank Identification Number (BIN) allows you to restrict access based on the type of payment card used, which can be useful for offering exclusive deals to specific credit card holders, managing high-value transactions, or implementing targeted promotions for certain financial institutions.

Under your Offer Details tab, scroll down to the Card Type Restriction section. This is a toggle that's default is set to OFF. Toggle this ON to get started.

One it's ON, select whether you want to restrict purchases by Card Type or BIN.

Card Type

Select the Card types the Offer is applicable for. This means, when a shopper is purchasing from your Offer, they can only use the selected card types.

Please note: American Express & Discover are currently not accepted in Canada. American Express is in progress.

BIN

Gating by BIN Number allows you to enter one or more Bank Names & BIN numbers for an exclusive experience. To upload multiple BINs at one time, please Download the Template, paste your BIN numbers, save, and Upload into FEVO Enterprise.

Shopper Experience

If a shopper is shopping with a credit card that is not within your selection or an applicable BIN, they will not be able to purchase. An error will notify the shopper that they must use the appropriate card type or BIN to continue.
