Summary
This is where you control the settings that apply to every estimate you create in Fieldwork. You can choose the starting number for your estimates, decide whether customers can sign them electronically, and customize the email that goes out when you send one. Setting these up once saves time later — every new estimate will follow the rules you set here.
Key Points
Set a Starting Estimate # so your estimate numbers stay organized
Turn on Allow Signing of Estimates so customers can approve work right from the email
Customize the Email Subject line that your customers see in their inbox
Write an Email Template that matches your company's voice
Use Placeholders to automatically fill in customer details, links, and buttons
How to get to Estimates
From the top of the Navigation Menu, select Settings (the gear icon)
From the Settings menu, under Company Setup, select Estimates.
Starting Estimate
This is the number your next estimate will use. After that, the number goes up by one automatically (this is called "autoincrement") — so if you start at 1001, your next estimates will be 1002, 1003, 1004, and so on.
Tip: If you're switching from another system, set this to one number higher than your last estimate so your numbering stays consistent.
Allow Signing of Estimates
When this is turned on, your customers can sign estimates electronically — no printing, scanning, or chasing paperwork. They simply click the link in the email, review the estimate, and sign from their phone or computer.
Note: We recommend keeping this on. It speeds up approvals and gives you a clear record of when each customer accepted the work.
Email Subject
This is the subject line your customer sees in their inbox when you send them an estimate. Keep it short, clear, and recognizable — something like "Your Estimate from [Company Name]" works well.
You can also use Placeholders (see below) to automatically include things like the customer's name or the estimate number in the subject line.
Email Template
This is the message your customer reads when they open the estimate email. Write whatever you'd like here — a friendly greeting, your company's contact info, a thank-you note — and Fieldwork will automatically personalize each email based on the Placeholders you input.
Note: Write your template once, and every estimate email you send will use it automatically. You can always edit an individual email before sending if you need to.
Placeholders
Placeholders are short codes that automatically fill in customer or company details when the email is sent. Click any placeholder to insert it into your Email Subject or Email Template.
Important note: For the Email Subject, clicking to insert the placeholder does not work; you must copy and paste the placeholder into the subject line.

2. Hold down Command, Shift, and C at the same time
