Massachusetts imposes a maximum limit of 19 hours of asynchronous on demand time for all state approved 40 hour pre-licensing courses. This means that on demand progress past 19 hours may not count towards your course completion or licensing requirements. This includes both topic credit and seat time credit. You must complete both the required course topics and 40 hours of seat time to satisfy your course requirements.
Because of this limit, to complete your state mandated course requirements you will need to take a minimum of 21 hours of your course when a state licensed instructor is available for real-time interaction. You can also complete all 40 hours live; on demand time is optional, and is not required.
In Massachusetts you can't complete the course entirely on your own without a live state licensed instructor under the state's licensing regulations, and no course progress on demand can count towards your course completion requirements after you have taken 19 hours of on demand classes. We cannot override or change this limitation because it is set by the state, and it applies to all pre-licensing courses.
The on demand time limit is automatically tracked on your account, and is displayed at the top of your on demand class page so that you can keep track of how much on demand time you have taken, and how much you have available.
On demand classes will lock automatically if you hit 19 hours, and will only unlock for review after you complete your course requirements. You may use asynchronous classes to study for your license exam after you fully complete the course, but anything on demand past the state-mandated 19 hour limit will not count towards your course completion requirements.
