You can connect your EarthRover to a mobile hotspot instead of home Wi-Fi or a SIM card. This is useful when youāre outside your home network or testing in an area without Wi-Fi.
Step 1: Connect the EarthRover to WiFi
Prepare Your Bot
Remove the SIM card from your EarthRover before starting.
ā ļø Skipping this step can cause unstable or failed connections.Power on the bot by holding the power button for 5ā8 seconds until it turns on.
Turn On Your Mobile Hotspot
On your phone, go to Hotspot Settings.
Turn on the Mobile Hotspot feature.
Set your Hotspot Name (SSID) and Password.
š” Avoid using spaces or special characters as they can cause connection errors.Keep your phone close to the bot (within 2ā3 meters) and unlocked while connecting.
Connect the EarthRover to the Hotspot
On your phone, connect to the botās setup network:
Look for frodobots_XX in your Wi-Fi list.
Enter the password 12345678.
š± Use your phone, not a desktop or laptop, for setup.
Once connected, open a browser and go to http://192.168.11.1/engineering
If that doesnāt load, try http://192.168.11.1
Tap the ā° menu and select Wi-Fi.
Enter your hotspotās SSID and password, then submit.
Confirm Connection
Wait about 10ā20 seconds for the bot to connect.
The Wi-Fi light on the bot will turn green once connected.
Your EarthRover is now connected to your phoneās hotspot.
Step 2: Start Driving
Log in to Your Account
Log in with your Discord account
Navigate to Your Dashboard
Locate your bot on your dashboard
Click the Drive button under your botās name
Prepare for Your Drive
Select your preferred controller
Configure your control keys
Click on the Proceed to Drive button in the upper right corner of the screen.
Start Your Drive
On your robotās feed screen, locate and click on the Start Your Drive button positioned at the upper left corner of your screen. This action initiates the recording of your drive.
End Your Drive
Once youāve completed your drive, click on the Finish & End Drive button found at the upper left corner of your screen. This step submits your drive for scoring and ends the recording.
