What Editing a School Menu Does
A school menu is a copy of a menu plan assigned to a specific school. Editing it lets a director customize a single school's menu without affecting other schools or the menu plan itself.
When you publish edits to a school menu, that school menu week becomes Off-Plan. The week no longer follows the menu plan and will not receive updates when the menu plan is republished.
School menus go Off-Plan only on the specific week edited. A school menu can be Off-Plan on one week and still receive updates for other weeks where it remains on plan.
Editing a School Menu
Open the menu navigation.
Select the school menu (not the menu plan).
Navigate to the week you want to edit.
Make changes to recipes, categories, or offerings for that school's week.
Publish to apply changes to that school's published menu and production records.
The week now shows the Off-Plan label in the navigation.
What Stays On Plan
Only the week you publish edits to goes Off-Plan. Other weeks at that school remain on plan and continue to receive updates from the menu plan.
When to Edit a School Menu
A specific school needs a one-time substitution that does not apply district-wide.
A school has a different operational constraint for one week.
You need to test a change at a single site before rolling it out via the menu plan.
