It’s crucial to make sure your average daily sales are accurately calculated, as this gives you a clearer view of your business performance. Here’s a simple, step-by-step guide to help you verify and adjust your average daily sales settings for improved accuracy.

Step 1: Check Your Average Daily Sales Calculation Period

First, head to your Preferences in Genie. You’ll need to review the period that Genie uses to calculate your average daily sales. This is essential because the time frame affects the overall calculation.

Step 2: Go to Settings

Once you're in Preferences, navigate to the Settings tab. This is where you can adjust your average daily sales settings.

Step 3: Find the Average Daily Sales Calculation Period

Under the Insights tab in Settings, look for the Average Daily Sales Calculation Period. By default, this is set to 30 days, but you can adjust this to better match your sales cycle. Options include 7 days, 30 days, 60 days, 90 days, or even 180 days.

The Average Daily Sales Calculation Period refers to the time frame used to calculate the average number of sales per day. This period helps to smooth out daily fluctuations and gives you a clearer view of your typical sales performance.

Here's how it works:

  • If you choose a 7-day period, the system calculates the average sales for the past 7 days, giving you a short-term view of your daily sales trends.

  • A 30-day period (the default) provides a mid-term average, showing you a monthly perspective of daily sales.

  • A 60-day, 90-day, or 180-day period smooths out even more of the short-term variability, offering a longer-term view of sales trends, which might be helpful if your sales cycle or demand fluctuates seasonally or over months.

Step 4: Adjust Your Calculation Period if Needed

If your daily sales seems lower than what you're seeing in Shopify, it could be because Genie is calculating based on a shorter time period. Try adjusting the daily sales period to a longer timeframe and see if the new number is more accurate. Keep in mind, it may take up to a day for changes to reflect fully, but webhooks can speed this process up to just a few minutes.

Step 5: Navigate to General

If you want to see immediate changes, navigate to general and click refresh on your inventory. This action syncs your account, which can take between five to ten minutes depending on the number of variants in your catalog.

Step 6: Run a Manual Sync if Needed

If you’re still noticing discrepancies after refreshing, try running a manual sync either from your inventory table or the settings page. This helps to capture any sales data that might not have been included in the initial sync or refresh.

What to Do if Discrepancies Persist

If you’ve followed all these steps—adjusting the daily sales period, refreshing your inventory, and syncing manually—and still see a discrepancy between Shopify and Genie, you may reach out to support for further assistance.

By taking the time to adjust your daily sales settings in Genie, you’ll be able to better align your data and get a clearer picture of your sales performance.
