This will be a quick overview of the New Bundle Mapping feature within Genie—it's been a long time coming!
With the latest iteration of our bundle mapping feature, we have now given the keys to the castle to the users. This means that you will no longer need to wait for support to get a bundle mapping built or updated. This article will walk you through the process of building your bundles and all of the information you need to know about managing the products.
Note: Genie's Bundle Mapper does not manage on-hand quantities. If you create a mapping within Genie, we recommend pairing it with Shopify bundles. Genie will handle the sales attribution, and Shopify Bundles will handle the stock levels.
Configuration:
Genie bundles are very simple to build and manage. Here are some steps to help you get started:
Step 1: Navigate to the "Bundles" tab from the main navigation.
We have moved bundles out of settings and made them front and center for you to access an review with ease. This tab is where you will create, manage, and update your bundles using the dashboard.
Step 2: Click "Add Bundle" to add a new bundle to the dashboard.
Clicking Add New Bundle allows you to search your catalog for the bundle you would like to add.
Example: If you set Product A as a bundle and map variants B, C, and D under it. You can't then create a new bundle that has Product A as a mapped variant under it.
Once you have added your bundle to the table, it will look similar to the one shown in the image below. You will be able to view details such as:
Bundle name
Status
Shopify Status
Bundle Variants
Total Variants
Last Updated
Create date
Step 4: Click the Bundle to add new variants
Clicking the name of the bundle will open up a window for you to add the additional context per variant. In this new window, you will see the default variants for this particular Product Bundle. At first, none of them will expand, and you will see a yellow indicator reading "0 Variants". This means no variants have been added to this option, and you need to add one.
Step 5: Add variants to the bundle.
Now that you have the bundle, you will need to update what variant will be associated to the listed Bundle Variant. To do this, you will select the Tic Box next to the variant you want to update. Then, click the Actions button and search for the variant you want to add.
This will add that variant under the bundle variant. Now, when a customer purchases that specific variant of your product bundle, the sales will be routed to the variant you selected (i.e. the component).
Step 6: Update the quantities.
Once you've got the variant added, you will need to indicate how many of that product are included.
You will repeat this process of adding the variant and updating it quantities for all variants associated with the bundle. Once all of the variants have been updated, the bundle mapping will be complete.
Any changes made to variants or if a variant is added/removed, the bundle will automatically save. However, if you make changes to the quantity, you will need to manually save.
Benefits of Genie Bundles:
Genie's bundles allow you to manage your product view and ensure that the sales are routed to the correct products. Not all bundle mappers are created equally, and we know that not all of them will attribute sales to the correct products. Rather they will set the bundle as its own standalone product rather than a shell for offering savings on groups of products, like it should.
For that reason, we designed our bundle mapper to ensure that sales will always be sent to the component, which is what matters. No one truly cares how many of one bundle sells vs the product. They want to know how much the components are selling, as those are what drive the sale.
However, it is important to keep in mind that while Genie tracks sales and attributes them to the right products, it doesn't manage on-hand amounts. Therefore, it's recommended to have a second bundle mapper within Shopify Admin to manage stock levels. We always recommend Shopify bundles as it is free and easy to use, but we have other users who use the following apps with great success if you'd like options:
