Why Aren’t My Instagram DMs Showing in Blabla?

Updated over 2 weeks ago

If your Instagram Direct Messages aren’t appearing in Blabla, you may see this error:

This usually happens because the required permissions haven’t been enabled in your Facebook Page settings.

Allow message access via Facebook (Linked Accounts)

  • Log in to your Facebook account that manages the Page linked to your Instagram.

  • From the top-right menu, click Settings & privacySettings.

  • Scroll down to the Permissions section in the left-hand menu and select Linked accounts.

  • Choose Instagram.

  • Make sure Allow access to Instagram messages in Inbox is enabled (see screenshot below).

Once this setting is enabled, Blabla will be able to sync and manage your Instagram DMs.

Allow message access in Instagram (from the mobile app)

  • Open the Instagram app.

  • Go to Settings → Messages and story replies.

  • Scroll down to Connected tools.

  • Turn on Allow access to messages.

Check the “Handover Protocol” on Facebook

This step ensures that Blabla is set as the primary tool for managing your Instagram messages.
If another tool has priority, your DMs won’t appear in Blabla.

How to do it:

  • Open Facebook with the account that manages the Page linked to your Instagram.

  • In the top-right corner, click Settings & Privacy → Settings.

  • In the left-hand menu, go to Audience and Visibility.

  • Click Page Setup.

  • Select Advanced Messaging.

  • Under Connected Apps, make sure Blabla appears in the list.

  • Click Edit and ensure that all permissions are enabled.
