Counting inventory

Time to start counting your inventory. Here is how to begin.

Updated over a month ago

Inventory counting is available as a paid add-on to customers on the Premium or Premium Plus subscription plans. To request this add-on, reach out to support@getmeez.com.

When you click the Begin new count button:

  • You will have your Sheet to Shelf area filled with the tags you created designating which ingredients were stored in each counting location.

  • Have a total number of items shown for each location.

  • See the count progress status of each location, Pending or Complete.

  • The button will now say End Count.

    • Ending a count before each of the sheet to shelf areas is complete will result in an incomplete count and none of the information will be saved. You will need to start your count over again from the beginning.

To start counting, click on the row of the location that you want to start counting in.

Once clicked the location, in our case 'produce walk in' will open up to start counting.

  • Here you will see the list of items (ingredients or recipes) tagged with that location

  • The section where you enter your quantity count.

  • The Unit of Count. This is filled automatically by how you bought your ingredient, either by the each or lb or case size.

The two primary sections to fill in on this sheet is your quantity and your unit of count.

Quantity

Count how many of your unit of count you have on hand and click here and enter the number.

  • Have 5 limes on hand, enter 5.

  • Count 4.3lbs of mortadella, enter 4.3.

Unit of Count

You can also change your unit of count to another unit of measure.

Note: Make sure the Unit you select has a UoM equivalency conversion in meez (Weight-Volume-Each) for your selected ingredient or recipe!

For example Dates, we bought by the cs=11lbs. We have less then a case left but its hard to guess if its half a case or one third of a case.

Since our case purchase unit is set up in lb, we can weigh how many dates we have and change the unit of count to lb!

  • To change the unit of count click where it says the current unit. A drop down menu will appear.

  • Next type in the unit of count you would like to change it to. In our case we can weigh the remaining dates so we enter that we want to count it by the lb.

  • Type it in and select the lb option.

  • Now that our unit of count is set to lb. we weighed our dates and got 3.9lbs. We can now enter the count.

  • Once you have counted everything in that locations list. Click the Submit count button.

  • You will get a confirmation message.

Currently once you submit a sheet count you will not be to edit the counts entered without starting your whole inventory count all over again. So double check to make sure all your counts are correct!

  • If your counts are ready, click submit count.

Continue counting each sheet to shelf location.

  • Once you have completed the counts for each location and clicked submit the inventory count will automatically complete for you!

  • To see the results of your inventory count click on View Report. This will take you to your analytics dashboard!
