What is Nurture for life?
Nurture for life turns your existing network into an automatic pipeline source. Spear resurfaces people you're already connected to on LinkedIn, with a message that picks up from your last conversation.
Resurfaced prospects land in their own Nurture tab, next to Suggestions. Each card is one suggested message to re-engage that connection, tagged Nurture for life.
On each card you can Send, Deny or Snooze. By default nothing is sent automatically, so every message is approved by a person. If you want Spear to approve them for you, turn on Auto-approve in the Existing Network campaign.
Filter by company domain: under the More dropdown in the Nurture tab, use the Company domain filter to select one or several domains and see only the nurture suggestions from those companies.
How the messages work
Nurture messages are not connection requests. They are written as a follow-up to someone you already know, and they use your past conversation as context (if we managed to pull it).
What the message is built from depends on the campaign type:
Tailored campaigns: Before looking for a trigger, Spear confirms the person's current title and company. It then searches for a fresh trigger, such as a post, a new job or funding, at the company they work at today (not their old one), and builds the message from it. If someone has changed jobs since you last spoke, the suggestion reflects their new role.
Custom-message campaigns: the prospect goes straight to the Nurture tab with the campaign's own first message.
Who shows up
Nurture covers two groups of people:
Prospects approved through Spear (approved or messaged before) who are confirmed connections.
Connections from the LinkedIn connections CSV you uploaded. See How to Upload Your Existing Connections to Spear.
To be suggested, a person must also:
Match the campaign's ICP (for Spear ICP campaigns).
Have been quiet for the number of days you set since their last engagement, in the campaign definitions (14 days by default).
Be in one of the statuses you chose as eligible, if its an approved prospect in Spear (Connected, Replied or Interested by default).
You choose when someone resurfaces. The days since last engagement and the eligible statuses are applied on top of the campaign ICP.
These people are excluded:
People you discarded in the last year.
People at excluded or blacklisted companies.
Anyone who is already a suggestion.
How it connects to Existing Network campaigns
There is no separate setup. The campaign is the nurture target.
Any active Existing Network campaign with a Spear ICP, list or Sales Navigator source is a nurture target.
Nurture suggestions are created only while the campaign's Auto prospecting toggle is on. Turning it off stops new suggestions and lets open ones finish.
Existing Network campaigns have their own Auto-approve toggle. Turn it on if you don't want to approve each message yourself. Leave it off to keep reviewing every one.
For how to create an Existing Network campaign, see What are 'Existing Network' and 'Re-engagement' Campaigns.
What happens when you click Send
First time through: if the person has never been through the campaign's sequence, they are moved into it and get the opener plus its follow-ups.
Already went through it: they get only the opener, as a direct LinkedIn message with no follow-ups.
Mid-sequence elsewhere: if the person is in the middle of another campaign's messages, Send is refused until that campaign is done with them.
Timing and volume
Up to 40 nurture suggestions per day per profile. This is separate from the suggestions in the 'New suggestions' tab.
Suggestions appear in the Nurture tab at the profile's next weekday 8:00 am local time, usually the next working morning.
Sends are capped at 40 per day per profile.
The same person can come back at most once per cooldown period as defined in the campaign (14 days by default).
A suggestion stays in the tab until someone sends or denies it.
