Spear connects with The Outreach Platform in a few key ways:
1. Linking the account
You connect your profile once, and Spear is authorized to act on your behalf for a limited set of actions.
See How do I connect, manage, or remove a LinkedIn profile? for the step-by-step.
2. Approving what gets sent
Nothing gets sent out without your approval. New prospect suggestions need to be reviewed and approved before any outreach starts. Campaigns and follow-up sequences are built for you, and you decide when to activate them.
3. Sending messages
Once a campaign is activated, Spear sends connection requests and follow-up messages automatically, based on the sequence you've set up.
See How do I set up my campaign sequence? to learn how to build it.
4. Syncing (reading) messages
Spear only reads messages from conversations with prospects that are part of a Spear campaign. It does not access or sync the rest of your LinkedIn inbox.
Replying from the Messages tab in Spear (instead of directly on LinkedIn) also gives you access to features like AI-suggested replies, advanced filtering, message scheduling, and automated follow-ups.
Note: this ensures Spear only interacts with the contacts you've defined as part of your outreach process, without touching your personal activity on the platform.
By default, Spear can't see your existing LinkedIn connections. To use them in a campaign, you'll need to export your list manually and upload it to Spear — see How to download your connections list and upload it to Spear.
5. Managing your sending limits
Spear automatically paces connection requests, messages, and profile views to stay within safe daily limits for your account — around 400 a month based on LinkedIn limits.
