Profile Ranks are Trail's way of visualizing the value certain clients bring to your business. You may use a Profile's Rank to export custom reports using Trail's Advanced Filter πŸš€

Trail's Profile Ranks are free for you to make the definitions of what each Rank means. This is so that it can suit the criteria for a wide range of business needs. It is up to you and your business to define what each rank of Profile represents, and for all team members to understand this.πŸ‘

In this article, you will learn:

  • What are Profile Ranks?

  • How to use Profile Ranks for your business

  • How to Hide Profile Ranks

  • How to report on your Profile Ranks using the Advanced Filter

What are Profile Ranks?

Profile Ranks allow you to see at a glance which clients of yours bring the most value to your business πŸ‘ To access them, click the medal symbol right below the name of a client's profile:

From here, you will be able to assign a Profile Rank for this client's profile. Click the Rank you believe best fits this profile as seen here:

After you've made your selection, you'll notice the medal symbol change depending on what you've chosen. You may clear the rank again at any time by selecting the None option πŸ˜„

How to use Profile Ranks for Your Business

Profile Ranks are subjective in Trail, meaning that you may use these for whatever ranking system you like. We commonly see these used to represent the value that a client brings to your business - such as, an A rank client is valued much more than a F rank client.

You do not need to use all of the profile ranks in your business. For example, if you only want to separate out your highly valued clients against the rest of your book, then you may use just the A rank to mark these profiles and leave the rest as None.

How to Hide Profile Ranks

We understand that sometimes the rank of a client's profile is sensitive, especially if you have clients regularly in your office. At any time, you may hide the Profile Rank along with the other profile options by clicking Actions - and selecting Set to Client View:

This view of the system hides most of the information at the top of a profile. Some of our users prefer this view for it's more minimal design.

To re-enable the Profile Rank being shown, click on Actions - and select Set to Default View

How to Report on your Profile Ranks

The Advanced Filter is used to create specific and targeted reports based on your book in Trail. You can learn more about how to use the Advanced Filter in this guide:

We have also conducted a training webinar on use cases for the Advanced Filter which you may check out here πŸš€

You may use the Rank of a Profile in the Profile export when using the Advanced Filter. To do this, you may add the following criteria (and further customise it to your own report):

As an example, this filter would return all profiles that are ranked A and B πŸ‘

As an additional example, you could use the following filter to return all profiles that do NOT have a rank:
