The Display Name is the name of your business displayed on your WhatsApp Business profile. It is the name your customers see when they interact with you on the platform.
When you associate a phone number with your WhatsApp Business account in Meta Business Manager, you must assign a Display Name. This name is used to generate a certificate required to register your account on the WhatsApp Business API platform.
Display Name Rules and Requirements
The Display Name must:
Represent your business and be clearly linked to your brand.
Comply with WhatsApp Business messaging policy.
Comply with WhatsApp rules to be able to send messages via the API or be eligible for an official WhatsApp Business account.
If you're working with a WhatsApp Business Solution Provider (BSP), they will configure the Display Name for your business.
Display Name Review
Display Name verification is not required to start using WhatsApp Business. You can send messages immediately after registration. However:
WhatsApp will investigate whether your Display Name complies with its rules.
The review is necessary to benefit from higher message limits.
After validation, you will receive a notification to download the certificate associated with your Display Name. (This certificate is only valid for 14 days).
Any changes to the Display Name after approval will require a new review.
The Official WhatsApp Business Account
If you want to apply for an official WhatsApp Business account (with the green tick ✅), your business must be considered notable. This means that it must be publicly recognized and mentioned in major media publications.
Approval is granted to the phone number associated with your account, and you can use your current name or request a new one to get this certification.
