Shipup is a delivery tracking platform: it tracks parcels in real time across carriers, with a tracking page customized to your brand.
Shipup detects delivery statuses, delays and incidents in real time. By connecting Shipup to WAX, you can proactively let your customers know on WhatsApp, with the order tracking flow.
How it works
Shipup sends a webhook to WAX every time a notification.new event fires (for example when an order is shipped). This webhook triggers the Order tracking automation in WAX, which sends the matching message to the customer on WhatsApp.
The data included in the Shipup webhook is automatically saved as attributes on the matching WAX contact. This includes the tracking link ("tracking URL"), which you can then insert as a variable in your WhatsApp message so the customer can go straight to their personalized tracking page.
Before you start: what you need to know
Shipup account: you need an active Shipup account, with access to the Integrations / Webhooks and Notifications / Editor sections.
Template: add the Webhook version of the Order tracking template to your workspace (Automations > Library). How the full flow works is described in How do I let a customer track their order on WhatsApp/RCS? (case D).
Step 1️⃣: Get the webhook URL in WAX
Open the Order tracking automation (Webhook version) from your list of automations.
On the flow, find the very first block at the top, shown in red: this is the trigger block.
Click this block to open the settings panel on the right.
Click the clipboard icon to copy the WAX webhook URL. Keep it handy for the next step, along with the Bearer Token shown in the same panel.
Step 2️⃣: Create the webhook in Shipup
📍 You are here: Shipup → left menu → Integrations → Webhooks tab
In Shipup's left menu, click Integrations, then open the Webhooks tab.
Click the button to create a new webhook. An editing window opens with several fields to fill in, in this order:
Field 1: paste the WAX webhook URL copied in the previous step.
Field 2: in the list of available events, select
notification.new(the 3rd one in the list).Field 3: in the advanced options, click Show, choose the Webhook Auth Type No Auth, then add a header with the key
Authorizationand, as its value, the WAX Bearer Token found in the webhook details of your WAX automation.
Field 4: select
language = EN.
Click Add: the webhook is created ✅
👀 For the setup to work, your WAX Order tracking flow must be active ("Live" status): this is what then lets you test that WAX receives the webhook.
Step 3️⃣: Turn on the webhook for the right notification
📍 You are here: Shipup → left menu → Notifications → Editor
In the left menu, click Notifications, then Editor.
In the list of notifications, find the one related to shipping, usually named Shipment created / Commande expédiée, and click to open it. Turn on the advanced options if needed.
On the notification's editing screen, find the Channel block and click Edit next to it.
The Webhook option doesn't appear directly in the list of channels: scroll down (it's below the Email channel) to see it.
Add the webhook created in Step 2️⃣ to this new channel.
Step 4️⃣: Add the tracking link variable to your messages
📍 You are here: WAX → Automations → your flow → trigger test screen
Send a test event from Shipup (or wait for a real order to go through the webhook).
Go back to the trigger settings screen in WAX (the one from Step 1️⃣): if the event was received, it appears in the "Webhook received" block with the list of detected attributes.
Among these attributes, find the one matching the tracking link (often a key with
urlortrackingin its name).Use this variable in the automation's "Track my parcel" button (the template uses
tracking_urlby default: replace it with the variable sent by Shipup).
For the other variables already in the text (the first name, for example): delete the existing variable if it was inserted incorrectly, then click the purple "add a variable" link at the top of the text block, choose
first_name, and set a default value (a simple emoji is enough) so you don't send an odd-looking message if the customer's first name is missing.
Expected result
Once the connection is set up and the webhook turned on, WAX automatically triggers the order tracking flow on WhatsApp as soon as Shipup detects the configured event (for example the order being shipped), with a personalized tracking link for the customer.
Tips
Test with your own number: ship a test order placed with your number and check that the message is sent with the right tracking link.
Make sending reliable: RCS fallback, re-entry rules and Customer Intervention are detailed in Step 4️⃣ of the tracking flow guide.
