A parcel line or a building footprint is only as accurate as its individual points. Use the Vertex Edit tool (icon looks like an arrow cursor pointing at a node) to move, add, or delete a shape's points one at a time, instead of redrawing the whole thing from scratch.
Open Vertex Edit mode
Any of these work:
Select a shape, then click the Vertex Edit tool in the drawing toolbar.
Double-click a shape that's already selected.
Right-click a shape and choose Edit Shape.
Press
SpaceorCmd/Ctrl+Kand search for Vertex Edit.
Vertex Edit is a mode, not a per-shape setting. Click a different shape while it's active and that shape's points show up immediately, no need to re-open the tool.
Edit points and edges
In Vertex Edit mode, move, add, and delete a shape's points.
Drag an edge to push or pull that whole side of the shape.
Leave Vertex Edit mode
Press
V, or click the Select tool.Press
Esc.Double-click empty space on the map.
A single click on empty space only clears your point selection. It doesn't leave the mode.
