Toolbar Buttons with More Than One Tool

Pick a tool from a toolbar button's menu, and the button keeps it until you choose another

Related drawing tools share one button in the drawing toolbar, so the tools you reach for during a site test stay one click away. Pick a tool from a button's menu, and the button switches to that tool. It keeps showing that tool until you pick a different one, so you can use it again without opening the menu.

Which toolbar buttons hold more than one tool

These buttons in the drawing toolbar each hold a group of related tools:

Each of these buttons has a small down arrow next to its icon.

Pick a tool from a toolbar button's menu

  1. Click the small down arrow next to the button's icon. Its tooltip reads More … options, like More split options.

  2. Choose a tool from the list. A tool's keyboard shortcut shows next to its name, when it has one.

Giraffe starts the tool, and the button's icon changes to match it.

Press Esc to close a menu without picking a tool.

Use the last tool you picked again

Click a toolbar button's icon to start the tool it shows. The button keeps showing the last tool you picked from its menu until you choose a different one. Hover over the icon to see which tool it will start.

A keyboard shortcut switches the toolbar button too. For example, press Shift+X to start Offset split, and the Split button switches to Offset split.

Each toolbar button goes back to its default tool when you reload Giraffe. The defaults are Base point move, Push / pull, Split, Circle, Tape measure, and Text Marker.
