What is an annotation?
An annotation is any piece of text, symbol, or graphic added to a drawing or model to provide clarification, explanation, or instruction.
They don’t represent the physical design itself but help communicate details such as callouts, labels, and dimensions.
Annotation Types
Giraffe comes pre-loaded with some useful basic annotations. Edit their appearance using the Appearance Properties in the properties pallet.
Marker
Text and Icon markers place a point with the Label Properties turned on.
Text - creates an outline kind label
Icon - Creates an image kind label
Filled Region
A filled region creates a polygon with a dashed outline and semi-transparent color, with a label turned on.
Edit the label text or update the color.
Leader
A line with an arrow at one and and a text label at the other end.
Edit the label text or update the arrow settings.
Arrow
3 arrow types for different use cases. Edit the color, dash, and arrow type in appearance properties.
Major: Thick, red
Minor: Thin, Red
Dashed: Thin, Blue
Upload 3D
Upload a 3D GLTF/GLB to your project for visual reference.
Places a point with the GLTF 3D property. The "default" Giraffe GLTF appears.
Upload a new file by clicking change in the Files section of the properties palette.
Upload Image
Upload a png or jpg.
Draw a rectangle.
Select "change" in the files section of the properties palette.
Select an image from your existing files or upload a new one.
