The analysis of these data will allow us to evaluate the carbon footprint of each equipment in your IT Inventory and to identify the main action levers on this emission item.

1. Upload your data

From the Data > Activity overview > IT Inventory module, you can manually add all your business travels or use our template to make things easier.

Option 1: Add your IT Inventory manually

First, click on "Add a row":

From here you will be able to fill in all your equipment information. Keep in mind that you have to complete the following information: Type of equipment and Quantity in use. However, the more information you fill in, the more precise your GHG assessment will be.

For device types with significant variations in emissions across different models, we provide brand and model suggestions to enhance the accuracy of your report. You can also type in custom inputs that will be mapped with our Emission Factors.

You can choose your purchase type (New, Refurbished, Leased - New, Leased - Refurbished) and your acquisition date.

Once everything is completed, you can click on submit and the equipment will appear as such :

Option 2: Add your IT Inventory following the template

From the main page, you will have to click on "Import file" to download our template.

When using the template, you have to complete the green columns (Type of equipment, Quantity in use). However, we encourage you to fill as many columns as possible as it will increase the precision of your GHG assessment.

What are "Entities" and "Business units"?

If you are part of a multi-entity company on Greenly, you can use the optional tags "Entities" and "Business unit" to help you visualize and understand your results better.

Understand the methodology

When looking at each device's carbon emission, you can click on the number to have the methodology :

Update linked emission factor

In this methodology, you also have the flexibility to modify the chosen emission factor. For device types with significant emission variations across different models, we provide brand and model-specific emission factors to enhance the accuracy of your report. While the system automatically selects the emission factor closest to your device, you can manually refine this selection as needed.

Mark your module as completed

Once you have uploaded all your data into the module, please mark the module as completed by using the selector located at the top right corner of your screen.

2. Read and understand your results

Whether you're purchasing new devices or leasing refurbished ones, the ecological footprint of your IT inventory will vary.

The Results page will assist you in comparing the emissions associated with each device, and the data collected will enable our climate experts to recommend alternatives in your report.

When this module is completed, please make sure you look into our article to avoid double counting.
