This module allows the retrieval of your IT inventory in order to specify the emissions related to the depreciation of your various IT equipment.
1. Why Consider Emissions from IT Inventory?
IT equipment (computers, monitors, printers, smartphones, etc.) has emissions associated with its entire lifecycle, including manufacturing, transportation, usage, and disposal.
The analysis based on a database of several thousand pieces of equipment, built from official data provided by manufacturers (Dell, Lenovo, Apple, Lexmark...). The emissions attributed to each piece of equipment are determined by the greenhouse gases emitted during its lifecycle—excluding usage—and its lifespan.
By including IT inventory emissions in Scope 3, organizations account for the full lifecycle emissions of the products they use, which provides a more accurate and comprehensive picture of their carbon footprint.
2. Upload your data
To complete the module, go to Data -> Activity overview > IT inventory and follow the steps below:
You have two options to upload your data:
Manually, on the platform by clicking on "Add data manually"
Using the template by clicking on "Import file".
Whichever you use, please make sure to fill out the mandatory fields: they come with a red * on the platform and appear in green in the template. The mandatory fields are:
The type of equipment;
The quantity in use;
The acquisition date.
There are also additional data that would help us provide even more accurate results and we highly recommend including them:
The brand;
The model;
The purchase type (new, leased, refurbished);
If you are part of a multi-entity company on Greenly, you can use the optional tags "Entities" and "Business unit" to help you visualize and understand your results better.
You will be asked to check on the data that you have gathered to make sure there are no mistakes. You will be able to see the methodology used to calculate each item's emissions.
If you do not have the mandatory information, you can click on "Skip the module" at the bottom left of the page.
3. Review your data and read your results
Once you have uploaded your data, you can flag the expenses related to the module to avoid double counting and access your results. To do so, please read the related article.
