Understanding Stripe Transaction Fees
You can find your fees under Account > Tax & Fees. There are two separate fees on payments processed through Groovio:
Groovio platform fee — a percentage fee (currently 1% for most studios; your studio's rate is shown under Account > Tax & Fees). By default this is added to the student's total at checkout. If you turn on Platform fee paid by studio, it is not added to the student's total and is deducted from your payout instead. This is a platform fee, not a card surcharge.
Stripe processing fee — this is not added to the student's price. It is deducted from the payout your studio receives.
So for a $20 class (with the platform fee paid by the student), the student pays $20 plus the platform fee, and your studio receives $20 minus the Stripe processing fee.
Stripe fees vary by country. Here is a summary of Stripe’s transaction fees by region:
Australia: 1.65% + $0.30
Canada: 2.9% + $0.30
France: 1.5% + €0.25
Germany: 1.5% + €0.25
Italy: 1.5% + €0.25
New Zealand: 2.7% + $0.30
Spain: 1.5% + €0.25
United Kingdom: 1.5% + £0.20
United States: 2.9% + $0.30
The rate that applies is based on your studio's country/currency (not the student's), and tax such as GST may apply on top of the Stripe fee. Payments recorded manually (such as cash or an external bank transfer) don't go through Stripe, so neither fee applies to them.
