What data can be synced from Fitbit to Habitify?

Connecting Habitify to Fitbit allows you to track not just your workouts, but your entire day's activity—from your morning run to household chores and sleep. By automating this tracking, you ensure your habits are logged accurately without manual effort.

This guide covers how to set up the connection and the wide range of activities supported by the integration.

How to Create a Fitbit-Synced Habit

  1. From the Journal view, tap the + button to add a new habit.

  2. Select Create Good Habit.

  3. At the top of the screen, tap the Fitbit tab.

  4. Select the Activity Type you want to track (e.g., "Walking," "Yoga," or "Gardening").

  5. Authorize the connection if you haven't already.

  6. Set up the habit as usual.

Supported Data Types

Fitbit supports a massive library of activities, ranging from intense sports to daily movements. To keep this list easy to navigate, we have grouped them into main categories.

Note on Activity Variations: Habitify supports high-level detail for these activities. For example, if you select Yoga, we support data from specific variations like Bikram, Hatha, Power, and Vinyasa. Similarly, Swimming includes general laps as well as specific strokes or leisurely water activities.

1. Walking & Running

Track your steps everywhere, from the treadmill to the trail.

  • Activities: Walk (Power, Race, Stroller, Weighted), Run, Hike, Jog, Treadmill, Orienteering.

2. Gym & Fitness Classes

Ideal for indoor workouts, studio classes, and flexibility training.

  • Activities: Aerobics, Bootcamp, Circuit Training, Crossfit, Elliptical, Stair Climber, Pilates, Weightlifting, Spinning, Zumba, Kickboxing.

  • Yoga: Includes Hatha, Bikram, Power, Vinyasa, and general practice.

3. Sports (Team & Competitive)

Log your matches, practice sessions, and casual games.

  • Activities: Basketball (including wheelchair), Baseball/Softball, Soccer, Football, Rugby, Hockey, Volleyball (Beach, Indoor), Cricket, Lacrosse, Ultimate Frisbee.

  • Racket Sports: Tennis, Badminton, Squash, Racquetball, Pickleball, Table Tennis.

4. Outdoor & Water Sports

For your adventures in nature, on the water, or on the snow.

  • Water: Swimming, Kayaking, Canoeing, Rowing, Sailing, Surfing, Diving, Water Polo.

  • Winter: Skiing (Alpine, Nordic), Snowboarding, Ice Skating, Snowshoeing, Curling.

  • Adventure: Rock Climbing, Horseback Riding, Archery, Sky Diving, Rollerblading, Skateboarding.

5. Daily Life & Household

Fitbit allows you to turn chores and daily tasks into trackable habits.

  • Home: Cleaning, Cooking, Gardening, Mowing Lawn, Raking Leaves, Shoveling Snow, Moving Furniture, Carrying Groceries, Child Care.

  • Work & Occupational: Carpentry, Construction, Farming, Painting, Masonry, Plumbing, Electrical Work.

6. Arts, Hobbies & Music

Track the physical effort of your creative passions.

  • Music: Playing Drums, Guitar (standing/sitting), Cello, Flute, Marching Band.

  • Dance: Ballet, Ballroom, Swing, Salsa, Tap, Folk.

  • Gaming: Wii Sports (Boxing, Tennis, Bowling), Xbox Kinect Sports.

7. Rest & Wellness

Track your downtime and recovery metrics.

  • Activities: Sleeping, Meditating, Massage Therapy, Sitting (Reading, Studying, Driving).

Supported Units

Depending on the activity type, you can track your progress using the following units:

  • Distance: (km, miles, meters, yards)

  • Duration: (minutes, hours)

  • Calories: (kcal)

  • Steps: (count) – Available for step-based activities like Walking, Running, and Hiking.

Important Notes

  • One-Way Sync: Data only syncs from Fitbit to Habitify. Logging a habit in Habitify will not create an activity in Fitbit.

  • No Manual Logging: Once a habit is linked to Fitbit, you cannot manually check it off in Habitify. It will only complete when the matching data is found in your Fitbit account.

  • Sync Frequency: Habitify periodically pulls data from Fitbit. If your activity doesn't appear immediately, please allow a few moments for the data to refresh.
