This article explains how to turn on Developer Mode on your Android phone before beginning the extraction process. Instructions may vary slightly depending on your device model or Android version, such as Samsung or Pixel. This also includes steps to turn off AutoBlocker if it is enabled.
Turn On Developer Mode
Enable Developer Mode in your phone’s settings to prepare your device for extraction.
Step 1: Open your phone's Settings app.
Step 2: Scroll down and tap About phone.
Device-specific navigation:
Device | Setting |
Google Pixel | Settings > About phone > Build number |
Samsung Galaxy S8 and later | Settings > About phone > Software information > Build number |
LG G6 and later | Settings > About phone > Software info > Build number |
HTC U11 and later | Settings > About > Software information > More > Build number or Settings > System > About phone > Software information > More > Build number |
OnePlus 5T and later | Settings > About phone › Build number |
Step 3: Tap Build number repeatedly (usually 7 times). You may be asked to enter your device PIN or password.
Step 4: You’ll see a message confirming that Developer Mode has been turned on.
Step 5: Go back to Settings > System (on Samsung devices, go to Settings > Developer options).
Step 6: Open the Developer options menu.
Toggle USB debugging on.
(Optional but recommended) Toggle Stay awake on so the screen remains active while charging during extraction.
Step 7: Confirm that the Developer options menu shows both settings enabled.
Remember: Turn off Developer Mode after your extraction is complete.
Turn Off AutoBlocker (Samsung only)
If AutoBlocker is enabled, turn it off to enable developer mode. This setting is only available on Samsung devices running Android 14 or later.
To turn AutoBlocker off:
Open the Settings app.
Tap Security and privacy.
Tap Auto Blocker.
Toggle AutoBlocker off.
Remember: If you turned off AutoBlocker before the extraction, make sure to turn it back on after you're done. Click here for instructions.
