How do you ensure the quality of your data sources?

How Helios AI vets & selects their data sources

We treat data quality as both an engineering and an analytical discipline. On ingest, every stream goes through pre-processing to standardize formats, units, and schemas across heterogeneous sources; this “clean and normalize” step removes obvious discrepancies before any numbers reach end users.

From there, our early-stage anomaly detection flags values that deviate from historical patterns or neighboring observations so they can be held back for deeper review rather than silently passing through.

Beyond format checks, we run content-level validation: automated routines test consistency across sources, assess completeness of expected fields, and perform cross-verification against known references; any alerts are routed to a human data quality queue for manual adjudication.

This blend of automation and expert review is anchored by a nightly rebuild of the full dataset, which produces a clean, validated end-of-day snapshot for reporting, backtesting, and audit trails.

As a further safeguard, we perform regular audits of the validation process itself and update methods in line with industry best practices, keeping the framework current as sources evolve. Finally, quality isn’t just about rejecting bad records—it’s also about surfacing reliable, decision-grade signals. By pairing cleaned inputs with our anomaly-detection and clustering methodology, and then delivering them in CSV, API, and weekly report formats, we ensure you’re working with data that is consistent, explainable, and immediately usable in trading and risk workflows.
