Understanding bundle analytics

Every bundle metric and chart, what each counts, and why added revenue will never match your Shopify sales total.

Written by Eddie Lavandera

Every number on the Bundle Deals analytics tab, with its definition. The one thing to understand before reading any of them: Added Revenue measures the extra revenue your bundles produced, not the value of orders containing a bundle. It is the number that answers "are bundles worth it", and it is deliberately smaller than your Shopify sales.

Reach it by opening Bundle Deals and selecting the Analytics tab, titled Analytics with the subtitle Track your bundle performance.

The metrics

Metric

Definition

Visitors

Total number of visitors who have seen the bundle offers

Bundle Orders

Number of orders that included bundle offers

Conversion Rate

Percentage of visitors who completed a bundle purchase

Added Revenue

Additional revenue generated by bundle offers beyond the base product price

Total Revenue

Total revenue from all bundle transactions

Revenue Per Visitor

Average total revenue generated per visitor who viewed bundle offers

Added Revenue Per Visitor

Average additional revenue generated per visitor beyond base product price

Bundle Conversion

Distribution of bundle sales across different bundle offers

The bundle list shows per-bundle figures alongside each row, so you can compare bundles without opening each one.

💡 Added Revenue Per Visitor is the best single measure of whether a bundle is working. It accounts for both how many people take the offer and how much extra each one spends, so it stays comparable between products with very different traffic.

The charts

Chart

What it shows

Bundle Conversion

Distribution of sales across your different bundle offers

Daily added revenue

Extra revenue from bundles over time

Conversion rate over time

Percentage of visitors purchasing a bundle each day

Conversion rate with gifts over time

The same, for bundles including free gifts

Orders with gifts

Orders that included a gift against those that did not

Most added gifts

Your five most frequently added free gifts

Upsell products revenue

Your top five upsell products, ranked by revenue

Added revenue breakdown

Split between Bundle products and Upsells

Bundle Conversion is the most actionable of these. If almost all your sales come from one tier, your other tiers are decoration. Either make them meaningfully different or remove them.

Most added gifts tells you which giveaway actually motivates people. Gifts nobody selects are costing you nothing but also achieving nothing.

Date ranges

Today, Yesterday, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Last 90 days, Last 180 days, Last 365 days, Year to Date, and All time, plus Apply and Cancel.

Filter to one bundle or view All Bundles.

ℹ️ Compare whole weeks rather than arbitrary ranges. Weekday and weekend buyers behave differently, and a seven-day window against another seven-day window is far more trustworthy than five days against nine.

Added revenue against total revenue

These two answer different questions and are constantly confused.

Total Revenue

Added Revenue

Counts

Everything those orders were worth

Only the extra the bundle produced

Answers

How much money came through bundled orders

Is the bundle earning its keep

Compares to Shopify

Closer, but still not identical

Never matches, by design

A customer who would have bought one unit anyway and bought three because of your bundle contributes the value of all three to Total Revenue, and only the extra two units' worth to Added Revenue.

Added Revenue is the honest number. It is what you would lose if you switched the bundle off.

Which orders are counted

Atlas excludes several categories of order from all revenue tracking, including bundle analytics:

  • test and bogus payment gateways

  • cash on delivery orders

  • unpaid, refunded, partially refunded and voided orders

  • unusually large orders compared with your store's recent average

  • exceptionally high value orders

  • orders with no payment gateway recorded

If your bundle numbers look far lower than your Shopify sales, this is usually why. See Why is my revenue showing as zero when I have sales?

How this affects your bill

Bundler revenue is one of the three things Atlas charges usage on. The Added Revenue figure here is the same measure that drives your bundler usage tier.

Up to $1,000 of added bundle revenue is included each billing cycle. Beyond that you move into a tier with a fixed monthly charge. Excluded orders do not count towards it.

ℹ️ Your analytics date range and your billing cycle are different periods. Analytics defaults to calendar ranges; your billing cycle starts on the day you subscribed. Do not expect the two figures to match.
